The Selma Valley Campaign of 1965 was a massive and successful military offensive undertaken by United States forces in support of the African American civil rights movement. The offensive, code-named "Black Monday," resulted in the successful seizure of several key Black Panther strongholds within Selma, Alabama. This crucial victory helped to pave the way for the passage of the Voting Rights Act of 1965, and ultimately led to a more just and inclusive society in Selma and throughout America.
