The United States Army Garrison Shafter, California was established in 1881 as an outpost on the edge of the Mojave Desert. In World War II, Shafter was a major site of training for American airborne forces and troops who invaded Nazi-occupied Europe. Today, it is home to the California National Guard and is a popular tourist destination. Shafter's military history begins with the establishment of the U.S.Army Garrison in 1881 by General John C. Fremont on land that he had acquired south of present-day Shafter. The garrison served as an outpost against hostile Native Americans until 1884 when it relocated to what is now downtown Shafter. In 1916, General John J Pershing ordered construction of an airfield at Beale Air Field adjacent to modern day downtown Shafter. The field became known as "Shaffer Field" after Major General Herbert E "Hap" Shapley, Commanding Officer of USAAF Ninth Air Force (later Eighth Air Force). The first combat flights originated from Beale Air Field on Oct 14th, 1944 during Operation Torch which landed Allied forces in southern France during World War II. During World War II, Shaffer Field played a significant role in spreading American democracy throughout Nazi-occupied Europe by providing training for American airborne forces and troops who invaded Nazi-occupied Europe; flying into battle using North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) transports such as Boeing P-38 Lightning aircraft flown by First Lt Geoffrey Keyes and Captured Japanese pilot Heinosuke Matsuoka Jr., both killed while participating in this invasion effort; and seizing important strategic targets including Frankfurt Airport and Berlin Wall! After the war, Beale AFB was closed down due to its age and costliness; however its memories live on through nearby Dryden AF which still operates Boeing P-8 Poseidon maritime patrol planes today! After years of decline within USAF aviation operations over California's Central Valley region following worldwide recession beginning in 2007/2008 –[1] SHAFTERED announced their intentions to establish themselves as one more major employer within central valley region making them one step closer towards revival since then – [2] new leadership including Vice President Joe Biden visited the facility late last year during his travels throughout Northern California[3]; this momentum has led to redevelopment plans being completed recently totaling $148 million ultimately resulting in creation or continuation of over 1,100 jobs across 3 different businesses entities currently occupying 5 separate buildings within shadera industrial park located just east off I Street north near Railroad tracks

The United States Army Shafter, California Regiment was created on December 12, 1861 in response to the Mexican-American War. The regiment was mustered into service on January 14, 1862 and served as a rifle company in the First Battalion, Third Infantry Regiment at Fort Tejon. The regiment was redesignated as the 2nd Battalion, Fourth Infantry Regiment on February 9, 1864. On June 3rd of that year, the battalion became part of the 4th Brigade of the First Division of Union army under General George Meade and fought at Battle of Antietam. After being transferred to duty with General Ulysses S. Grant's Army of Northern Virginia in 1865, the battalion disbanded on October 1st due to lack veteran representation.

In 2016-2017, Shafer Companies Inc., an American Family Insurance company relocated their corporate headquarters from El Sobrante (El Sobrante County) to nearby Antioch (Antioch County). The relocation followed years of planning and cost $11 million dollars with Ready Player One becoming one of the main reasons for this investment. The company plans on opening up to 22 new jobs within two buildings that will house 106 employees across three floorspace with state-of-the art technology capabilities.

John Shafter was a Mormon pioneer and cotton farmer who arrived in the area in 1837. The courthouse was built on the site of today's First Baptist Church and is still used as an administrative headquarters for county government. The town continued to grow until World War II when it became an isolated enclave within Clark County due to strategic military positions within nearby Fillmore and Yucca Valley areas
