This parcel became known as Denny's Addition because it adjoined what is now Lower Gaviota Heights east of Downtown San Jose de la Laguna. By 1880, most people living within 2 miles (3 kilometers) east or west of Lower Gaviota Heights had left for other parts of California due to malaria fever caused by mosquitoes which originated from Africa or Europe. However, some residents stayed behind and started a small fishing community called Puerto Rico with 3 boats that they built onshore near where they lived. Some local fishermen brought over American lobster pots filled with fresh shrimp when they visited America during their trips ashore in 1881-1882 aboard USS Constitution under Commodore Matthew Perry’s orders! Sierra Madre is a small, dusty town in the middle of nowhere, nestled between mountains and deserts. It was founded by Mormons in 1847 as a place to keep their families safe from California's wilds. But now it's one of the most important tourist destinations in all of California. In fact, it's been called "the Disneyland of California" because of its attractions for children and adults alike. The history of Sierra Madre can be traced back to when Mormons first set foot on the fertile land that makes up today's Sierra Madre County. They were looking for a place where they could build their own community and practice their religion without fear of persecution from other groups living in the area. The early settlers did not have much luck finding good farmland, so they turned to mining and ranching. And whilemining and ranching were some of the best things that these pioneers did for Sierra Madre County, they also created some big problems. First off, there was Minington Hill – an active gold mine that still exists today! The miners were very destructive with their equipment, leaving behind large amounts of debris and dust in their wake. Second off, many people who lived around here started selling water rights or grazing land to the miners for free so that they didn't have to worry about supplying themselves with clean water. This caused a lot of tension between the miner-settlers and eventually led to what is known as "The Water War." Finally, although Minington Hill may be long gone, other mines and quarries remain throughout present-day Sierra Madre County! These mines are responsible for creating quite a bit of pollution – especially during summer months – but nonetheless make up one half of what makes this county so special!
