Artisan Coffee has been making coffee in Simi Valley, California since the early 1800s. The first coffee shop in Simi Valley was established by two Italian immigrants, Antonio and Angelo Ciccone, in 1868. Ciccone sold his coffee shops to a group of American businessmen in 1876. The early pioneers of artisan coffee were dedicated to quality and taste over quantity. They used fresh beans that were roasted in-house and made only with premium Arabica beans. Today, many of the same owners continue to hand- roast all their coffeebeans and sell them direct from their facility. In 1979, Italian coffee manufacturer Lavazza acquired Bottega Veneta and continued making high-quality Italian coffee until its merger with Nestle in 2010. In 1997, Swiss coffee company Swatch purchased a controlling interest in Bottega Veneta and continue production of fine Swiss-made espresso beans until their sale to Keurig in 2013. As Simi Valley's only major artisanal coffee producer, La CampanerÃa has been responsible for shaping the Simi Valley cup of Joe since its inception more than 100 years ago.

In 1851, a group of settlers led by John Sutter founded the city of Ventura on the site of present-day Ventura County. The city grew rapidly and soon became a major center for trade and commerce in southern California. In 1915, Simi Valley was annexed by Los Angeles County. Today,Simi Valley is a bedroom community located adjacent to Hollywood Boulevard and Central Avenue in South Pasadena.

It is located on the Santa Paula Peninsula and bordered by Oxnard to the east and Bel Air to the north. Simi Valley is one of three cities in Southern California that are considered part of Downtown LA. The town started as a small station on Rancho Cucamonga's main line in 1887, when entrepreneur Edward Winslow laid track from Pasadena to Oxnard on his new horse-drawn wagon road. Winslow named his town after Simi Valley in British India where he was born in 1838. A post office called Simi Hills was established in 1888, and remained open until 1907. In 1911, two brothersnamed Harry and Ted Ladd developed what would become Citrus Heights with their father's 150 acres (60 hectares). They built citrus fruits orchards and then sold them for processing to other businesses such as Pico Rivera Refineries which became Orange Crush fame because it could be mixed with sugar syrup to make a fruit drink called orange Crush
