In 1945, Jose Gomez passed away and his family sold their business to Harry Sargeant who operated the store until it closed in 1984. After owner Harry Sargeant's death, it passed through several hands before it finally came into our hands in 1994 when Donny Weingarten bought it from his son-in-law Tony Weingarten. Since then, Donny has run the store under various names including Donny's Coffee House & Cafe and The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf Restaurant.
Simi Valley, California is a small town located in Ventura County, California. The population was 5,958 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Greater Los Angeles Area and is bordered by San Bernardino to the east, Santa Paula to the south, and West Covina to the north. Simi Valley has a Mediterranean climate with warm year-round temperatures. The first European to visit Simi Valley were Spanish missionaries in 1769. A mission was built on what is now known as Muir Road in 1868 and named for Father José Gomez de la Torre y Valdés, who had come from Spain that year as an apostolic delegate for Southern California Mission District. In 1874–75 a group of American soldiers under General George Custer visited Simi Valley while on their way through Ventura County looking for new land for the United StatesArmy after losing Battle of Cerro Gordo at Palo Alto Creek. While there they caught word of gold being found at Sinaloa Springs, about 5 miles (8 km) southeast of downtown Simi Valley. After searching the area unsuccessfully for several days they abandoned their quest and returned home without finding any gold ore or other assets they might have taken with them back to America. In 1916 two brothers by the name of Waddell started a fruit farm near Descanso on Unincorporated Santa Ysabel Mountain range east of present day Simi Valley along present day Interstate 15 between Escondido and Carpinteria; this farm became famous due to its high quality apples that are still popular today among consumers throughout Northern California and most southernwestern states outside of Los Angeles County! Waddell also produced celery which remains one of his trademarks! The farm continued operation until it burned down in 1987 when it was acquired by John Naismith Golf Course Co., Ltd., later renamed Jones & Knight Inc.. With increasing suburbanization within commuting distance over time adjacent farmland became available for housing development including much sought after open space such as I-15 running through town center making it difficult if not impossible for animals like cows or horses needed for milk production (& pastured). However some farmers did manage to keep their herds although many were eventually disposed due primarily to lack of water resources available nearby during dry summers/nights especially during blustery conditions leading upslope into valleys where streets become impassable even during light rain storms! In recent years much progress has been made towards repairing roads within town limits making getting around morea breeze especially given that Hollywood Boulevard continues its uninterrupted trek straight across town center bypassing all but one building (the old fire station), stopping only inches away from busy intersections just prior entering downtown!!! This makes walking (or biking) almost feel like an added bonus rather than something required as part of everyday life!!

It has been home to many famous people and businesses including Jack Nicholson and Tom Hanks. The area around Simi Valley was first settled by Native Americans in the 18th century. In 1863, Colonel William Tilton of the United States Army built a military post on what is now east side of State Route 120 near present-day Simi Valley. The post became known as "Tilton's Station" after General William Tecumseh Sherman's visit in 1865 and its remains are still standing today. In 1892, lumber baron David Sanger bought land around what is now west side of SR 120 for $1 million from American Bypass Road developer John Dromgoole. After years of development work, Sanger's rancho comprising much of present day Simi Valley was completed in 1915 and named Rancho Santa Fe de la Mota after his Mexican wife Santa Fe de la Vieja (old woman). Today the major thoroughfares through which most people access Simi Valley are State Route 54 (SimiValley Highway) to the north and south; SR 120 east/west; Rancho San Fernando south; Interstate 5 to the southeast; and US 101 to the northwest The community began as a small farming village with only 60 residents according to one source in 1925 when it was part of Ventura County’s then-new incorporated municipality called Northridge In 1951, when Ventura County merged into Los Angeles County, SimiValley became part of that new county The opening of Interstate 10 brought about increased traffic throughout Northern California during the early 21st century which caused some buildings such as Tilton's Station to be abandoned or used for storage The last resident departed from ruralSimiValley on December 31st 2009
The Simi Valley, California area was first settled by the Native Americans in the late 18th century. The area now includes part of Ventura County and parts of Los Angeles County. In 1851, a group of Mexican American farmers founded the town of Val Verde on the south bank of the Santa Clara River. They named their town after Simi Valley, Mexico. The first white person to live in Val Verde was Fenton Crippen, who arrived in 1852. He built a cabin near what is now known as Mission Road and called his settlement "Valverde." After about a year, he left for unknown reasons and no one knows why he did not stay or why he never bothered to build another cabin. From Valverde, some early settlers ventured out into what is now southern San Bernardino County looking for fertile land to farm. One such settler was John Sutter who bought 5,000 acres (2 km²) of land at Rancho San Pedro in 1864 from Manuel Nieto. He named it Sutter's Ranch after himself and started farming it. By 1870, Sutter had increased his holdings to over 100 acres (40 ha). In 1870–71, Jens Jensen opened up a small grocery business at Camp Carson on Hwy 17 between Moriarty Road and Valentine Avenue in western Ventura County which became one of the largest groceries west of Chicago when it opened its doors. In 1888 Don Trimble established an orange grove on property that later became Trimble Park in central Simi Valley along with his wife Agnes Cunningham Trimble whose father had also owned part of the orange grove before them
