In the late 1800s, Solana Beach became known as the "coffee capital of the world." TheSolana Beach Coffee Company was founded in 1887 by John Doherty and his brother, George. The company produced a unique blend of coffee that quickly gained popularity throughout California. In 1915, Solana Beach became the first city to approve a zoning ordinance allowing for coffee stores. By 1920, Solana Beach had become one of the largest coffee markets in North America. The business grew steadily during the 1930s and 1940s until it was purchased by J.B. Lippincott in 1954. During World War II, Solana Beach's war production capacity helped make it one of the top Allied caffeine sources before hostilities ended. After the war, however, commercial interests began to overshadow coffee production at Solana Beach and it ceased operations in 1967.Today, few people remember or know about whatSolana beach once did for its industry – but that doesn't mean it didn't have an important role in American coffee history!The early history ofSolana beach's coffee industry is shrouded in mystery; however, evidence suggests that Coffee beans were brought overland from Mexico beginning around 1847 by pioneers such as Don Miguel de Cervecera and Antonio Canovas.* This arrival effectively changed California's landscape as most all transportation options then relied on sea travel which proved difficult to achieve * As early as 1860 when Humboldt County started selling coffee legally*, there were Cafés located all over town* . However due to sailing difficulties reaching Point Conception (Humboldt County), many locals turned to smuggling for their morning caffeine fix!Even though we may not be able to visit these Cafés today ourselves (they are all now closed), their legacy can still be felt throughout our town! For example,. decades ago every home had a small cupboard stocked with various types of beans – from Dutch press (dark) roasts to Guatemalan (light). If you wanted something special type of roast or flavor you could always find it here! But even more importantly….. each Coffee house functioned as community center where everyone would gather before starting their day or working on their crafts…. simply because no one else had access to such high quality ground beans back then! Today some streets still bear this name….. such as Main Street (#1) which runs along National Avenue between downtown and Point Conception* . Wyle's store was soon followed by other businesses such as a post office, slaughterhouse, bakery, grocery store and more! In 1926 Solana Beach acquired its own water system which made it possible for residents to get around without having to use public transportation! In 1965 local high school students organized a communitywide protest against government spending on social welfare programs that would benefit people of color only! As a result of this protest Solana Beach became one of the most aggressive cities in support of Proposition 13 (the "California Fair Housing Act"). This law prohibited public housing developments built with taxpayer dollars from being built within 1/2 mile (1 km) of any black or Latino neighborhood! Today Solana Beach is an increasingly diverse community with over 50% female enrollment according to 2014 Census data! There are also many successful Latinos who have chosen to call Solana Beach their home! There are many businesses open late into the night including several restaurants that offer Late Night Menu options like tacos or margaritas!' Of course there are also plenty of retailers that remain open all day long including numerous cafes and pharmacies

Solana Beach, California is a census-designated place located on the Pacific Coast of Northern California. As of the 2010 United States Census, its population was 26,812. The Solana Beach Pier and Wharf are two nearby attractions that make the area an attractive tourist destination for visitors from around the world. The name "Solana" comes from Spanish meaning "the sun's heat." The town was first settled in 1868 by Mexican Americans who were looking for a new home on the coast. The town originally consisted of three small villages: Santa Teresa, Solana Mesa, and Mission Viejo. In 1876, after passage of the Morrill Act which provided land grant rights to Native Americans in California, Solana Beach became part of Imperial County and was named after General José Antonio de Escobar y Costilla y Mendoza who served as Governor of California from 1874-81. In 1883, Englishman Edward Atkinson purchase Rancho Santa Clara which extended along what is now Old Solana Beach Boulevard. Atkinson renamed his rancho Santa Barbara del Sur which led to further development within the community and increased trade with other communities along San Diego Bay including La Jolla and Balboa Park during this time period In 1915 developer James Acheson took over ownership of Acheson & Company (later known as Hacienda Pacifica) in downtownSolana Beach just south of High Street Acheson had been born in Russia but immigrated to America when he was 16 years old He started out working at his family's bakery before taking control of A&C in 1914 After World War I he developed abandoned oil fields near Baja California into a major oil production facility called Los Angeles Refining Company where he employed over 100 people When Prohibition began in 1919 he shut down production because it conflicted with his religious beliefs He resumed operations after Repeal but lost control over Hacienda Pacifica during prohibition years
