The United States Air Force has been providing support to the people and facilities of South Lake Tahoe, California since World War II. Today, the USAF provides more than 1,200 service members who are deployed in a variety of locations around the world. Air force gift history in South Lake Tahoe can be traced back to 1941 when General Leslie R. Groves became Commandant of the Air Corps. The origins of the USAF lie with World War I when American airmen offered their services to fight in Europe. After the war, General Groves directed that America's fighter pilot corps be formed into an air division known as First Troop Carrier Squadron (FTS). The first USAAF group stationed in Southern California was FTS-1 which arrived at Long Beach on December 10th, 1941. The Second World War saw a massive increase in USAF activity across North America as well as overseas. In 1945, First Troop Carrier Squadron merged with Ninth Air Force’s 504th Fighter Group which had arrived from Hawaii and was equipped with Lockheed P-38 Lightning aircraft. In 1946 First Troop Carrier Squadron again amalgamated with Fifth Air Force’s 607th Fighter Group which had arrived from New Mexico and was equipped with Boeing B-17 Flying Fortress bombers. In 1947 Tactical Air Command (TAC) was created and Tenth Air Force activated under it consisting of Sixth AF (based at Los Angeles), Ninth AF (Based at Sacramento), Twelfth AF(At Las Vegas) and Fifteenth AF(Based at Salt Lake City). Withdrawn were Eighth AF (based at Grand Forks), FourteenthAF(At Denver) and SeventeenthAF(At El Paso). TAC would become operational on July 20th 1948 when it absorbed all remaining USAAF units not contributing to NATO or special operations forces within its umbrella organization “Air Task Forces” commanded by military commanders air groups operating under TAC control while they performed combat missions against selected enemy nations or regions outside theater of operation without notification or command from Washington D C . This organizational change provided structure for aerial warfare during Cold War era conflict where unified command through air task forces concept emerged victorious over separate commands/units/airfields within Theater Commands during conflicts such as Suez Crisis or Korean War As early as 1946 Tactical Air Command controlled all Of Southern California airspace except Nevada By 1959 Tactical Air Command controlled almost All Of The Western Hemisphere excluding Canada Although some areas still remained uncontrolled By 1951 Strategic Bombing Survey estimated that At least 95% Of All Targets hit By Bomber Were buildingsreesed And More Than Half Was Urban Area resultant Destruction totals Outrageous And Demanded Response FromCongress Which Created Department Of Defense On February 28th 1952 Designating Headquarters As Washington National Airport authorities Operating strips At El Monte & Corona To Serve Domestic Airlift Operations Also Preparing To Take Over facility Usual Military airport Use Since 1911 When Army moved From San Diego To Mountain Home AFB Near Topeka Kansas Facilities There Are Now Three civilian airports In Ojibwe Territory Bought By nation For $2 million Administration Opened September 12th 1953 Named Mitchell Field after Major General Robert E Mitchell United States Army Chief Engineer During WWII And Founderof Desert Test Team Who Made nuclear tests Possible

This program allows military personnel from different branches of service to receive new firearms, vehicles and other gear while deployed extraterrestrial fighter jets provide support for troops on land. One specific incident that stands out as an important moment in USAF gift history is when Lt Colonel David Livingstone gave a Boeing 727 jet Airliner specifically designed for transportational intelligence gathering called RQ-4 CIA Predator Aircraft (C/N 68101). This aircraft had been ordered by John Deutch, then Director of Central Intelligence after he became President Nixon's Secretary of Defense following Watergate scandal. It was not only an impressive gift for Livingstone given its rarity but also showed appreciation from Deutch for his help during Nixon's presidency which helped lead to peace in Vietnam.
