Stanton is a small town in Kern County, California, United States. The population was 7,362 at the 2010 census. It is located on the banks of the San Joaquin River and its namesake river, Stanton Creek. It straddles the border of Kern and Fresno Counties. The first European to set foot in what is now Stanton was Anglo-Mexican Captain Hernando de Soto in 1540. He named it after his friend José de la Costa y Borbúa who had died there two years earlier. A Mexican land grant known as Rancho Seco was granted to Juan Bautista Torres in 1821 by Governor Pijon. The name change occurred when a post office called Stanton opened in 1825 with an initial population of 5 inhabitants. ranchos were granted for various purposes including grazing land, cattle pastures, timberlands and mineral rights; these grants continued until they were sold off or revoked during the Mexican Revolution. In 1887, American Missionaries arrived at Stockton and established a mission station on the south bank of Stanton Creek opposite present day Mount Hope Cemetery (now part of city limits). In 1898–1900 construction began on what would become California State University at Fresno (CSU Fresno), which would eventually become one of America's largest universities with over 3800 students enrolled statewide in 1957 when it joined UC Berkeley as a coeducational university! The arrival of large numbers of Asian Americans during World War II led to many businesses being founded here such as Honda Motor Co., Sunoco Gasoline Co., Pacific Gas & Electric Company and others that continue to operate today including Chevron Corporation Headquarters! Today much like then, Stanton has an active downtown core full of cultural events throughout the year from art shows and galleries through popular food trucks/cafés all weekend long! There are also some smaller rural communities nearby but their residents don't often have access to medical services available within reasonable distance so they rely heavily on Stantons Hospital which has been rated 9th best hospital system by UPMC Health System!

The company name was later changed to Koffee Klasse in 1949 after its establishment as a cooperative enterprise under German ownership

It has been called "the breadbasket of the West" for its abundance of crop land and good transportation links to the rest of the country. Stanton was platted by George W. Dixon in 1849 as part of Rancho San Pedro de Atascosa y Guereña. The city was named in honor of General John C. Fremont, who fought in the Mexican-American War and then served as governor of California from 1850 to 1853. Stanton's nickname came from its location on an old train line linking Stockton with Los Angeles and other cities in Southern California.
Stanton was founded in 1879 by George A. Stanton, a railroad man and entrepreneur. It became a town in 1902, and then a city in 1959. The city is named after George A. Stanton, who donated the land for it.
