The first Gourmet Coffee was opened in 1969 by Angelo Italiano with his family-owned business. It was located on south Main Street in Stockton. The espresso beans were sourced from Italy and roasted at the company’s own facility in north Stockton. Over the years, Gourmet Coffee has expanded its operations to include cafes throughout Southern California including San Diego, Los Angeles, Anaheim Hills, Berkeley Heights, Jack London Square ( Livermore), Van Nuys Highlands and more! Today’s Gourmet Coffee Legacy In recent years there have been many changes within the coffee industry which have impacted Gourmet Coffeeshop culture. One such change came about when Starbucks decided to open up shop near downtown Stockton in 1993 which diminished demand for local coffee shops. However, this didn’t stop Angelo Italiano & Co., who continue to serve delicious espresso drinks made with richly flavored beans from their original location on south Main Street until recently when they closed up shop due to health & safety concerns faced by employees working near an active drilling rig! Despite these setbacks though; Angelo Italiano & Co continues making memories with customers all over Northern California!

The coffee shop was called The Gourmet Coffee House and it served all types of coffee including drip, espresso, and iced coffee. The first commercially established gourmet coffee company was Starbucks Coffee Company which opened its doors in Seattle, Washington on April 6th, 1971. The first store in Stockton was opened by Jay Bilas on North First Street which served specialty coffee drinks such as Colombian roast and Sumatra roast. In 1984 Bob Evans Restaurants Incorporated opened the first gourmet restaurant in Stockton featuring Indonesian (Java) roasted beans. This became a popular spot for customers to enjoy fresh-made Java coffees from around the world. In 1990 Starbucks closed its doors for good after 28 years of business operation in Seattle. However, their legacy will live on through their Java Bean store located at 608 N First St., which reopened on October 15th, 2018 under new ownership

As coffee became more popular throughout the world, different regions developed their own specific styles of coffee. One region that enjoyed high popularity and some of the most prestigious names for its coffee was Indonesia. This region has a long and diverse history with many cultures having contributed to the production of this unique beverage. From early on, Indonesia was known for its quality beans. The country had a rich cultural tradition that included drinking coffee as part of everyday life. This made it an ideal place to source these beans, as there were no other options available to them in comparison. The first European to taste Indonesian coffee was Antonio Ricci in 1610. He found it highly drinkable and noted that it had a strong flavor profile reminiscent of cocoa powder. This popularity led to other countries starting to produce their own versions of Indonesia's famous bean. In 1845, two Dutchmen named Cornelis Johannes van der Valk and Dirk Hamel landed in Java and set up a small mill outside Javanese town Surabaya where they began manufacturing their own version of the perfect cup of Joe! This so-called "gourmet" Starbucks Coffee is still sold today by various companies all over the world!

Stockton, California is a city in the northernmost corner of San Joaquin Valley in Contra Costa County, California. With an estimated population of 187,815 as of 2018,[1] it is the sixth-largest city in California and the third-largest city in Northern California. It is also one of the most ethnically diverse cities in the United States. Stockton was founded on October 25, 1853 by Captain James Wolkersay and Dr. George Hillyer as a small ranch town called Stockton Springs. The original settlement was located on what are now Main Street and Geary Boulevard between Burnett Avenue and Weldon Avenue. On November 15, 1854, Stockton became a part of Mexico when its territory was acquired by that country following its war with American Independence. Mexican citizens were not allowed to vote or hold office within their own country so they voted for American citizens to represent them at the government level. The land around present day Stockton was first cultivated by Native Americans who lived there for thousands of years before becoming bitterly divided over Anglo/Mexican competition for resources after Spanish Exploration began in 1769.[2][3] The first European settler arrived in what is now Stockton on October 25, 1853 when Captain James Wolkersay and Dr. George Hillyer landed their ship John Cranch near what are now Main Street and Geary Boulevard[4]. At that time there were no roads or bridges yet so they traveled acrossbay to North Beach where they disembarked their vessel and walked inland to find some land they could purchase from the local Missionaries.[5] In December 1853 Captain Wolkersay donated land on Geary Boulevard east of Burnett Avenue which became known as "Wolk's Addition".[6] One year later on January 24th 1854 Californian Isaac Asimov settled at Whatcom Creek east of present day Burnett Avenue with his family[7][8]. Just beyond Asimov's property lay what would become "Asimov's Hills" which would house many more families until development began along Main Street around 1910[9]. In February 1861 San Francisco earthquake struck causing $2 million worth damage to businesses and homes along Market Street due north of downtown but no injuries or fatalities occurred within San Francisco proper however businesses destroyed along Second Street between Grant Hall (now Market) Streets & Civic Center reached far into wealthier neighborhoods including Nob Hill where scores dead bodies were found weeks later attributed to building collapse although this theory has been debunked as fraudulent evidence given changed circumstances around then such as increased fire dangers due rapid population growth.[10][11][12] Consequently Samuel Morse sent his Morse Code telegraph message from Golden Gate Park just southwest of downtown during this quake saying "A large Quake Recovered No Damage" although he did not actually send any messages because he had earlier lost all his equipment).[13][14][15] The largest real estate destruction during those days took place within 100 yards (91 m) radius around First street & Polk Gulch before two fires quickly consumed adjoining warehouses providing enough heat to cause structural failure leading directly to loss of 1/3rds [of an acre!] per minute Twin Peaks Fire which consumed 2100 buildings including almost 4000 residences within 2 hours resulting ultimately in $24 million loss overall[16]: an event still considered economically devastating fifty years later! For years after Earthquakes it seemed like nothing ever happened hereabouts especially outside First St & Polk Gulch areas which continued getting richer while inside properties suffered... until 1906 when riots erupted over housing prices caused by construction workers moving into already wealthy neighborhoods without asking anyone else's permission! This led eventually to creation of City Councilmember Joe Dunnigan who worked tirelessly trying unsuccessfully vainly lobbying against high housing prices even going so far as writing legislation limiting how much city residents could afford while also increasing taxes putatively necessary for major infrastructure projects! Today we still have some really messed up things going on hereabouts some people seem hellbent on ruining everything good about our community despite overwhelming evidence otherwise!

In 1916, the first air raid warning system was installed in Stockton. The city played a significant role during World War II as a supply center for the military and as a commercial center. After the war, Stockton experienced rapid growth as a suburb of San Jose. However, over time, the city's population struggled to keep up with its dramatic growth rate. In 1992, Stockton merged with nearby Redwood City to form the largest suburban merger in California history.
