The navy has a long and rich history in Stockton, California. The city was founded by Spanish Californios in 1769 as Rancho San José de los Pinos. The first ship to enter the Bay of Fundy was the Santiago on January 4, 1821. In 1846, Commodore Matthew Perry sailed into San Francisco Bay and announced that Mexico would concede US jurisdiction over California if they surrendered their ports to the US. Texas War for Independence began on February 6th when Mexican troops stormed the Alamo Heights. On March 2nd Commodore Perry ordered his flagship USS Constitution to fire upon Mexican soldiers at Monterey Peninsula who had taken refuge inside Fort Monterey. This event is known as the Battle of Monterey which ended with Mexico's surrender and admission into the United States. In 1847, Stockton became part of newly created California during Mexican rule over Northern California. The first post office in Stockton was established in 1851 and soon became a major center of trade with its booming cotton industry. At this time, many American merchants opened up shop in Stockton because it offered an excellent location for shipping goods entering and leaving China through Sonoma County – one of America’s most important trade routes at that time! During World War II, California served as a major battleground between Japan and America due to both countries’ efforts to secure access to Maritime Southeast Asia through military operations there (see Pacific Theater). As a result, numerous naval vessels were used during wartime tasks such as amphibious assaults or convoy escort duty offshore from various Naval Base areas throughout Southern California including Seal Beach Naval Harbor near Laguna Niguel; Corona del Mar Naval Shipyard at Yorba Linda; Long Beach Naval Shipyard; Lemelson AFB Navy Yard yard near Tracy; Redondo Beach Naval Shipyard; and Newport News Shipbuilding & Dry Dock Co., Inc., Portsmouth VA - all located within easy reach of Stockton!

Stockton, California is a city located in the Central Valley of California. The city was founded in 1848 by City of Stockton citizens, who were looking for a new home after their previous location was destroyed by the Gold Rush. The city grew rapidly during its early years and soon became an important agricultural center due to its fertile soil and rich water resources. In response to this growth, Stockton developed a strong infrastructure that has made it one of the most successful cities in Northern California. Today, Stockton remains an important cultural and economic center within the San Joaquin Valley region, with major industry including manufacturing, agriculture, healthcare and education.
On February 14, 1849, Stockton was founded by George Anthony and his brother-in-law, Augustus Holbrook. The town was named for the nearby Stockton Valley. It began as a small trading post on the west bank of the San Joaquin River. In 1853, Stockton became an incorporated town with a population of around 100. The first post office in Stockton opened in 1854. The town continued to grow and by 1870 had a population of over 2,000 people. A rail line was built to connectStockton with Oakland via Sacramento in 1872 and soon the town was becoming an important center for agriculture and trade. In 1906, Stockton became part of the City of Berkeley after it seceded from California. The city's growth led to overcrowding in some areas and there were calls for its annexation into Berkeley proper beginning in the 1930s. However, Berkeley refused to annex any township without Measure B approval from the City Council which meant that until Measure C passed in 1959, no other towns within Berkeley could be annexed either by vote or force (the measure allowed cities like Oakland and Sacramento to annex additional towns). During World War II, Stockton played a significant role as an ammunition depot on Utopia Mesa near downtown due to its proximity to Sutter Mill Airfield which served as both airfields for bomber missions over North America and as a storage site for munitions during war time.
