The Suisun City Coast Guard Station has been providing the best possible security and safety to the people of Suisun City since 1915. The station provides a wide range of services, including law enforcement, environmental protection, and maritime security. Each year, the station celebrates its anniversary with special events and celebrations. During World War II, the Coast Guard was critical in helping to protect against Japanese aggression. In particular, they aided in preventing Allied ships from being sunk by mines and torpedoes while under escort from San Francisco Naval Base. In 1951, the Coast Guard became part of the California State Government. As part of this change, it was decided that gifts would no longer be given to members of the coast guard on their birthday; instead, a gift would be given to some service member who had made an impact on coastal defense or communitysafety during that year. In 1995, whenSuisun City was selected as one of seven cities in Northern California to become part of Silicon Valley University’s (SVU) campus expansion program – which included new buildings for student organizations – SVU donated land for a new Coast Guard Station at 4th Street and Market Place inSuisun City. This location is now home to the Suisun City Police Department’s Central Command Headquarters as well as SVU’s Marine Science Center and Student Recreation Center. Since then, SVU has continued to donate property and funds toward makingDowntownSuisunCitythe most vibrant city center in Northern California – thanks in large part to support fromtheMichaelMorrow Foundationand other local benefactors! During recent years additional donations have come through: $145K towards construction of a new jail adjacentto DVSU’s Campus Recreation Center; $50K for resurfacingof D Streets between Fourth & Fifth Streets;$25K for funding for bike racks at several downtown businesses;and finally $10K towards creating an open-air market space near SixthStreetandMarketPlace where residents can purchase fresh seafood daily! Suisun City is a city in San Francisco Bay Area, California, United States. As of the 2010 census, the city had a population of 77,239. The Suisun Bay Annex Community Services District was created in 2002 to provide various services and programs for residents of theSuisun Bay neighborhood on the eastern edge of town. Located at the mouth of Suisun Creek on San Francisco Bay, Suisun City has been inhabited by indigenous peoples for thousands of years. The first Europeans to come to this area were Spanish traders and missionaries who founded missions in 1769 and 1770. After 1848, when California became a state, Suisun City gradually grew as an agricultural society with some 4500 farms working around Suipanying Creek. In 1906, construction began on what is now downtown San Francisco and eventually became known as "The Embarcadero." This was also when downtowns across Northern California started becoming large and more crowded than small towns. By 1930 there were over 120 buildings in downtown San Francisco; by 1945 it had grown to over 500 buildings with new districts being developed such as The Financial District and SoMa (South Mission). During World War II many businesses moved from downtown into Building 1040 off Market Street due to shortages caused by the war effort. In 1946 all but one building on Market Street were destroyed during a fire that burned for days after arson attacks against empty buildings near Downtown$. One building survived until 1978 when it was replaced by Safeway which then demolished it leaving only an old foundation remaining today which can be toured during regular open hours

The city of Suisun City, California was founded on October 15, 1875, by Captain George Augustus Goodwin and his wife, Emma. The city was named in honor of the County of Contra Costa which Goodwin had served as a captain during the Mexican-American War. The city's first resident were two families from San Francisco who arrived on horseback to find an open land grab between Mexico and the United States. They were followed by many others in what would become known as "the Gold Rush". In 1879, a group of investors organized by John Matson formed the First National Bank of Suisun City. The bank became one of the largest in Northern California. Suisun City experienced several times floods due to rain events that occurred throughout its history including: On September 27, 1888, a devastating flood destroyed much of downtown Suisun City with up to $100 million in damage and loss. This event is sometimes referred to as the "Great Flood" because it caused such widespread damage across Northern California that it left cities such asSan Francisco without their businesses or homes for months after the event. An additional flood struck Suisun on February 21st 1902 which damaged over 200 homes andFootnote 2 Left more than $1 million worth of damage unrepaired total since 1886 when flooding damages totaled just over $100 thousand dollars
