Suisun City is a city in Contra Costa County, California, United States. The population was 828 at the 2010 census. It is located on the Suisun Bay and forms part of the San Francisco–Oakland–Hayward Metropolitan Statistical Area. The first Europeans to visit what is now Suisun City were Japanese fishermen who set up a small trading post there in 1846. From this site the peninsula that now makes up downtown Suisun emerged as a place where goods could be unloaded and then transported by boat down the bay to Market Street for sale or storage. The town's founders were primarily Italian immigrants, but their descendants continue to live here today. A post office called "Suisun" was established in 1851, and remained in operation until it was discontinued in 1906. In 1868, businessman George Hearst donated land adjacent to his yachtyard on Nob Hill for a new city hall and other public buildings; construction began soon after and finished in 1870. By 1880, when Suisun became an incorporated municipality, it had grown enough that it needed its own courthouse—an event immortalized by local poet Ezra Pound when he said: "This may be our little town / But if you want your news from anywhere / You must go to San Francisco." In 1915, President Woodrow Wilson visited Suisun City for two days during his trip through Contra Costa County; during this visit he made one of his famous speeches from within the Municipal Building on Telegraph Avenue (now First Avenue). The speech helped make Suisin' into an official center for governmental activity within Contra Costa County because Wilson saw it as an important stop on his tour of valley counties. During World War II, vast amounts of munitions were stockpiled at Point Reyes Peninsula Naval Base before being moved inland across Highway 1 so they wouldn’t fall into enemy hands; these materials eventually resulted in extensive damage to local infrastructure including streets and bridges which still exist today! Today much of this infrastructure has been replaced with modern materials but some elements such as streetlights remain original!

Suisun City is one of the oldest cities in California. It was founded in 1824 by Capt. James H. Suisun and his wife, Mary Ann Wright, on the site of present-day San Francisco. The city grew rapidly from its small population of around 100 people in 1825 to over 2,000 by 1848. In 1865, Suisun City became part of the newly created County of Alameda and remained so until it was annexed into Oakland in 1898. With rapid growth came a corresponding increase in development; early downtown areas were replaced by new neighborhoods such as Telegraph Hill and Nob Hill. In 1912, Suisun City amalgamated with other towns within the new City & County of Berkeley to form what is now Berkeley. The Suisun Valley area saw significant industrial redevelopment during the late 19th century and early 20th century due to its proximity to major ports and shipyards along San Francisco Bay. This included several large employers such as Pacific Gas & Electric (PG&E), ChevronTexaco, Mills Corporation, Southern Pacific Railway (SP) and Kaiser Aluminum Company (KAL). As industry shifted away from dockside production towards mainframe assembly plants and more centralized manufacturing operations throughout California during this time period, many businesses located near Suisun Center closed down or relocated outside the city limits altogether. However, some notable exceptions include KAL's Kausaland plant which continued operations until 1976; PG&E's Northshore plant which operated until 1978; and KAL's former Rancho Seco facility which continued operation until 1984. During World War II, Suisune served as an important port for shipments entering San Francisco Bay from inland locations including Los Angeles and Riverside counties. A large munitions complex was built at Jack London Square adjacent to the current Civic Center district in 1945–46 utilizing 3 million barrels of oil crude oil produced at Refineries 922 (now Candlestick Park) on Treasure Island offSuisan Point east of downtown Oakland before being moved offshore for storage due to strict Maritime Authority regulations against moving hazardous materials without prior written consent from coastal landowners/industry operators! The complex consisted of two parallel basements measuring 210 feet long x 95 feet wide with a total surface area of 6 acres! Today only portions of one Basement remain standing – remnant foundations can be seen surrounding a vacant lot next door on State Street between University Avenue West and IMAX Drive! During wartime days access to this basin was restricted ONLY TO AUTHORIZED PERSONNEL AND THEIR CERTIFIED SPONSORS!! typical Marina activities such as parking lots fill up quickly today!)
