Susanville is located in the Simi Valley area of California and has been a center for coffee roasting since the 1800s. The first coffee beans to be roasted in Susanville were grown in what is now known as the "Old World" Section of town. The Old World Section was home to many of the early pioneers who started farming in this region, including John Sutter and his brother, named Joseph. In 1847, when Sam Adams began roasting beans at his new factory on Fair Oaks Drive, he chose to roast them here because of the local soil and climate. Sam Adams continued roasting beans here until 1959, when the company moved their production to newer facilities in Nashoba Heights, Massachusetts. At that time, Susanville became an important part of the international coffee network and continues to produce world-class coffee today. Today, there are more than 20 cafesowned by different companies that sell Sam Adams Coffee products throughout North America.

In 1863, the name of the town changed to Susanville after Mrs. Susan Hesselberger who donated land to make the community possible. Of note, Mrs. Hesselberger also served as mayor from 1889-1893 and 1893-1895. The following are some notable events that have occurred in Susanville over time: In 1916, World War I began and by 1918, there were already 3 hospitals set up within the town limits which treated soldiers from all over Europe including American troops stationed here during that time period (albeit under German control). Dr. John Pemberton startedSusanville Hospital on October 1st 1916 which eventually became California’s largest hospital with an area of 425 acres . On November 5th 1920 – thirteen years after its establishment – Susanville had its first tornado outbreak when a severe storm system crossed through this area killing one person and injuring several others . In December 1952, voters approved a $150K bond issue for building projects such as a new high school (now known as Western High School) , more streetlights, etc., makingSusanville one of the earliest towns in California to do so On January 1st 1959 additional services were added when Century Elementary School opened followed by Springdale Elementary School on February 28th 1959; both schools remain active today providing education to students from pre-kindergarten through 12th grade On February 8th 1992 while celebrating its centennial year - Stonington Mall reopened after being closed for many years due to arson - Susanville's biggest event yet! This reopening marking an important milestone for local businesses which had been struggling ever since before then
Susanville was founded in 1887 by Isabella Bird. The town is located on the Susanville River and it is named after Susan, the wife of Colonel Robert M. Atchison, who donated land to the town. In 1907, the first post office was established in Susanville. In 1928, an amusement park called The Park opened in Susanville and amusement park rides were later built in the town. In 1951, a shopping mall called The Plaza opened in Susanville and it became one of California's largest shopping malls. In 1998, a new hospital was built in Susanville and it is now known as Kaiser Permanente Western Valley Medical Center.
