Susanville is a small town located in the Kern County, California region. The population was 1,924 at the 2000 census. It is part of the San Bernardino-Riverside metropolitan area. Susanville's ZIP code is 91764. The town began as a post office on November 15, 1853, named forSusan Borden (1801-1855), an early settler and pioneer woman in Kern County. The first Post Office building was built on present-day Elmendorf Road just south of the original Susanville Townsite. In 1854, another post office was established atwhat is now Vandenberg Air Force Base; this building still stands and serves as the local government center for that community. Susanville experienced its first growth when two families moved to Susanville from Bakersfield in 1857 and founded what is now known as the First Baptist Church of Susanville (later renamed First Presbyterian). By 1860, there were 10 homes in Susanville; by 1870, there were 30 homes. In 1872, James Waddell bought land northeast of town and started to build a new home colony which would eventually become known as Waddell City (). On July 12th 1870 James Waddell married Lucy Addison who became his wife of 57 years and mother of his 11 children (). Mrs Addison also helped found what is now known as Butterfield Elementary School in 1865 along with her husband James Waddell Sr.; both have since passed away (). On October 5th 1880 Union Pacific Railroad Depot No 2 was opened & served local passengers until it closed down in 1966 due to budget cuts; it currently houses Headquarters for the nearby Riverside County Sheriff’s Department! When railroad service ended & all traffic stopped going through town on December 31st 1886 due to mining operations taking place close by (& continued until sometime after World War II), much of what are nowSusanvine’s storefront buildings were used for storage by merchants during that time period before they were finally torn down around 1960/1961 due to their deteriorating condition (& some remain today!). The following year saw another large increase when gold was discovered near Redlands However this discovery meant no change to life at either post office so mail never got delivered! After many years of being vacant most store fronts including those mentioned earlier went luxury apartments starting around 1965 or 1966 before finally being razed completely around 1971 or 1972 during struggles between various businesses over who could use those spaces!. Some very lucky residents had access to newly built housing which started hitting the market circa 1978 but ultimately never happened because Earhart AFB construction increased demand (& prices)! Today a small piece offeek from Earhart AFB can be seen sitting atop a hill west of downtown Susanville opposite US 101! It seems like things have always been more complicated than they seem... With such limited transportation options available back then other than walking or horseback riding out into rural Kern County where roads weren't too good even though they did exist!), farming was your only option & virtually every family operated their own farm! Of course not all farms were successful & some reverted back to subsistencemode over time but even during tough times many farmers managed to get through!! With economic conditions improving throughout most Western countries throughout the late 1800’s thru into our current day we can see how important agriculture WAS within those days especially given just how difficult life usually was outside!!! Plus with technology becoming more&more accessible everyday(& especially with email!), farming has definitely taken a backseat!! Despite everything said about farming however it does continue on via hay production thanks To Megan Andrews who runs her own business called Andrews Hays which process hay imported from Mexico aka “the best hay in California” according to her!) . We MUST keep our food security top priority if we want our country NOT TO fall apart!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Susanville is a small city in Kern County, California, United States. The population was 3,816 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Fresno metropolitan area. Susanville was founded by Helena Douglass and her husband, Phineas T. Goodwin, in 1887 as an agricultural town on the San Joaquin River about 25 miles (40 km) east of Fresno. The town name derived from John Susan's estate near Sacramento where he owned a large amount of land that included what is now Susanville and other surrounding areas including Piedras Negras and Oakdale. The first post office in Susanville opened on March 13, 1888. The first store was opened by Mrs. Aiken Hockaday on Main Street with five cents worth of goods available for purchase. In 1889 the first school opened with grades one through four serving students who then walked to school each morning from their homes on Elm Street which resulted in the construction of a two-story white frame building with a gabled roof that still stands today on Elm Street called "The School House." At this time there were only ten residents in Susanville and all were farmers or landowners who subscribed to an Nicholas-Pope mailing list which allowed them to have notice when new products arrived from Europe and other parts of the world. Mrs Douglass served as treasurer for many years until her death in 1951; she also ran the bake sale every year during Christmastime and prepared Christmas cookies which she distributed to local families at their homesfolk fireside before going into retirement). In 1895 Mr & Mrs Goodwin added a home on Cottage Avenue adjacent to their farmstead known as The White House due to its unique gable roofed structure (it was later replaced by a more modern structure). By 1926 there had been erected 7 businesses withinSusanville - 5 retail stores, 1 restaurant/barbecue place, 2 blacksmiths shops(one being operated by Phineas Goodwin himself), 1 gas station/convenience store(later taken over by Pacific Gas & Electric), 2 Doctor's offices(Drusher & Drussell), 2 warehouses(originally used for storing agricultural produce)and finally 4 residences: 3 single family dwellings (one being occupied by Helen Douglass herself continuing until her death in 1951)and onemultifamily dwelling belonging to Captains Leland Stanford Jr., Clifford Stecher and Edwin Wayman associated with various oil fields projects around Kern County ." Mrs Douglass also ran an annual bake sale held at her home during Christmas season preceding leaving for retirement after spending most winters here since moving back home from England following World War I . This event drew hundreds of local families together under tree inside Ms Douglass' house prior to enjoying some highly rated cookies baked by her own kitchen team.. In addition to baking she also managed several gardens around town supplying fresh flowers daily throughout winter months .. Finally beginning around 1950 much like most developing communities across America rural prostitution began slowly but surely creeping up suburban streets leading directly intoMsDouglas'Gardens providing sexual services not only 24 hours per day but 365 days per year ."
On July 17, 1868, the town of Susanville was founded by seven farmers and their families. The name of the town was chosen because it was near a small mountain called Susanville Hill. The first post office in Susanville was opened on October 15, 1868. The first store in Susanville was built by W. H. Brown and operated from a log cabin on the side of the hill. In 1870, a two-story wood frame building with a mud wall and weatherboard roof was erected on Main Street. This store had a grocery business and sold goods such as groceries, millinery items, saddles and horseshoes, etc., to local residents. In 1872–73, Fenton Brothers Hardware Store operated in an adobe building at 3rd and Main Streets for about six months before being replaced by Jno. Aitken’s Store which continued until 1886 when it burned down due to fire damage caused by lightning while being situated across the street from Parson’s Theatre
