The first coffee houses in Tehachapi were built by Europeans who came to the area to prospect for gold and cattle. By 1907, there were over 20 cafes in town.
Tehachapi, California is a city in Kern County, California, United States. The population was 12,890 at the 2010 census. It is part of the San Bernardino–Ontario Micropolitan Statistical Area. The name "Tehachapi" comes from the Tongva word "hei-chapi," meaning "a horse that has been given rest." In 1876 a group of English prospectors discovered gold and Silver near present-day Tehachapi and named their find Tehachapi Hill after the hill in Mexico City where they first found it. After years of mining operations, most notably by Consolidated Mines & Smelters Company (later US Steel), Tehachapi became an agricultural center with over 1 million acres (500 km²) of irrigated land and Industry generated about $2 billion in economic activity during its heyday from 1910 to 1920. The community was developed on the east side of State Route 99W which ran through present-day Forest Service Road 621 between Donahue Lake and Weyerhaeuser Dam before it was rerouted south to Highway 140 west of town in 1922. Interstate 10 bypassed town entirely in 1988 when routing changed due to congressional mandate following passage of President Reagan's Interstate Highway Authorization Act (IHA). In recent decades much development has taken place within what were once rural areas: a new shopping mall called SouthPark opened in 2006; a large housing project began construction adjacent to town square in 2007; and a major new jail built west of town square opened in 2009. As part as larger trends across Kern County such as suburban sprawl, job loss among older residents,[1][2][3][4]increased calls for services delivered through social media such as watermain replacement,[5]and increased traffic around schools,[6][7][8][9]the rise of marijuana dispensaries throughout Kern County[10],and now some development along I-10 outside Fresno have led some local officials to call for further regulation or prohibition on marijuana products within city limits while others advocate for keeping Mendocino County out altogether because they see potential benefits including job growth should Proposition 64 pass November 3rd.[11] A planned open space park located adjacent to what had been Rancho Niguel High School will be home to basketball and soccer tournaments beginning next year after being vacated by school district administrators who initially opposed plans for mixed use development on campusnext door;teams are seeking permission from state governmentto move up their season dates so that they can take advantageof additional playing time at newly constructed Northridge High School which replaced Rancho Niguel Middle School following parent objections thereto.[12]

Coffee became popular in Europe after being discovered by Spanish traders in the 16th century. The first coffee shops were opened in London in the 17th century and soon other British cities followed suit. The Dutch developed their own form of coffee, which they called Koffie. However, Koffie was not as popular as coffee from Britain or Europe so it was exported to the Dutch colonies. Java also produced high-quality coffee beans so traders started trading there for coffee too. In 1821, a group of Englishmen journeyed to Java and found that the beans were better quality than those from Indonesia and brought back this information back to England. By 1830, about 50% of all English trade with India came through Java because of its rich supply of good-quality coffee beans. Consequently,Java became known as the "Cup of Joe" because it played an important role in helping Toffees develop their business model throughout much of the 19th century (Fenton). During World War II, Indonesia's Coffee Board helped supporting British war efforts byprocuring goods like food, cigarettes and oil necessary for military operations (Fenton). After the war ended in 1945, Indonesian communists took over power and began disrupting production at plantations throughout Indonesia; this led to a catastrophic decline in world prices for coffeebeans (Fenton). Consequently, many businesses closed down during this time which resulted in a decreased demand for goods made from Indonesian coffees (Kempster & Kempster). In 1990s Indonesians shifted their focus towards roasting their own beans instead of importing them due to health concerns about growing human papillomavirus[5]. This shift saved many jobs but also increased production costs since Indonesians have expertisetryingtocraftabetter Roaster(Wang) . With improved technology and advancesinbinningtechniques,[6] Indonesian roasters are now able to produce more cups per hour than ever before[7], providing drinkers with even more delicious cupcakes every day!

Tehachapi, California is a town located in Tehachapi County, California. The population was 1,811 at the 2010 census. It is located on the southern edge of Redondo Beach on State Route 159. The town was founded by Felicia Place and her husband George Place in 1868 as an agricultural community called Place's Rancho de la Pampa. In 1873, they changed the name to Tehachapi after the Mexican state of Baja California. The original white settlers were missionaries who came from New Mexico in search of new converts to Christianity in what was then a lawless region. They built churches and Adobe Walls along the banks of the Gabilan River which served as their townsite. In 1876, John Sutter discovered gold near Tehachapi and decided to set up a mining camp there with his men-on-the-land operation known as Sutter's Gold Rush. By 1879, most of the miners had left for other parts of California while some continued working until 1880 when production ceased because of flooding caused by heavy rains that year. With no gold found but plenty of waterlogged lodes nearby, many prospectors abandoned their claims or moved away when prices for silver started appreciating in 1886. In 1895, William Fenton bought part of former Sutter's land and established Fenton Mines Company with partners Haddon Gardner and Alfred Nobelbrandt to explore for silver deposits further downriver at Anza Cave Butte where they failed to find any significant resources despite expenditures totaling $2 million over five years including hiring 20 professional engineers and geologists under contract from several U.S., British and Swiss companies.). In 1898 Jerald Culp became General manager with responsibility for all aspects related to mines and smelters; this gave rise to controversy among management about control over production while employees labored under difficult conditions producing little or no profit). After failing to find any viable silver resources within a radius of 10 miles (18 km) around Anza Cave Butte he sold his interest back in 1899 but still retained full ownership rights overAnza Cave Butte Caverns which he leased out beginning in 1902 until 1923 when it reverted back into public hands). As late as 1951 there were still reports surfacing occasionally about small amountsof Silver being found incidentally during surface exploration operations.)
