On July 4, 1945, the United States Air Force deployed a gift to Temecula, California in commemoration of the end of World War II. The gift was a Boeing B-29 Superfortress bomber. The bomber had been donated by Boeing Aircraft Corporation and was flown into Temecula Municipal Airport. It arrived on a massive birthday celebration that included speeches by President Harry S Truman and First Lady Eleanor Roosevelt. In addition to the bomber, Temecula Mayor Tom McCloskey presented a plaque recognizing the event.

The Temecula Air Force Base gift history can be traced back to the early 1940s when the United States Air Force began providing air defense in California. It was during World War II that the base became a major refueling and supply depot for theAAF. In 1948, the USAF transferred ownership of Temecula AFB to the City of Temecula. The city has since worked hard to maintain and improve facilities on campus including an Aeronautics Museum which opened in 1969, a new airport (now known as Goodyear Airport) in 2001, and renovations to several buildings on campus such as Pfc. John Foust's Administration Building (now known as Dooley Hall) and Officer Candidate School Annex No. 1 (now called South Bay Center). In 1984,Temecula AFB was renamed after General Dave Palmer who had served as Commandant of cadets at UMWR from 1945-1949. Today, Temecula AFB is home to more than 150 military units including both active duty and reserve members from all over North America. Many of these units have their own barracks on site along with a number of Waco Airmen hangars used for storage or display purposes only!

The Temecula Valley was first settled by Native Americans in the early 1800s. A post office called Temecula was established in 1892, and remained open until 1959. In 1907, Jesse Latham founded the Latham Brewing Company in Temecula and began selling beer from a small brewery on White Street. The company became one of America's largest brewing companies with holdings in more than 100 breweries across North America. In 1946, Samuel Goldwyn Productions moved its production unit from Hollywood to Temecula to take advantage of its ample water supply and mild climate for film production. Temecula has been home to several large technology companies including Apple Inc., Intel Corporation, Symantec Corporation and VMware Incorporated since they were founded or merged over time: Sun Microsystems (now Oracle), Microsoft Corp., Cisco Systems Inc., HP Labs and Dell Computer Corporation among others
When the United States Air Force was founded in 1947, it lacked any air forces stationed abroad. The USAF was created as an umbrella organization that would include all military branches of the United States government. In 1951, the USAF deployed its first squadron to Japan. By 1955, the USAF had two squadrons stationed aboard American warships in both the Mediterranean and Pacific oceans. The deployment of these operational wings allowed for increased cooperation between service members and helped improve interoperability within the US military. AIR FORCE DISPATCHED GIFT HISTORY In 1968, President Lyndon Johnson ordered a review of United States foreign policy and tasked Secretary of Defense Robert McNamara with developing a plan for deploying combat aircraft overseas. The report found that there were too few planes available to deploy anywhere in the world at any given time and that this posed a threat to American security interests worldwide. As a result, McNamara ordered the US Air Force to begin development of what would become known as Operation Pegasus – an effort to sendMQ-9 Reaper jets into conflict zones in order to provide air support for ground troops. This deployment marked one of America’s most significant strategic reversals since World War II and set off waves of criticism from both political conservatives and liberals alike. Temecula is a small town in Riverside County, California. The population was 5,681 at the 2010 census. It is located on the Temecula River, about 15 miles west of downtown Riverside and 10 miles east of San Bernardino. The name means "land of Temescal" in Spanish. The first permanent settlement in what is now Temecula was made by Mexican settlers in 1847. A post office called Temecula had been established in 1849, but no mail came through until 1865. The townsite was patented to James Waugh and named for him by Captain John Culp of the American forces who fought against Mexico during the Mexican-American War (1846-48). After Waugh's death in 1872, his heirs sold portions of the town to various developers over time; some bought land from Waugh's widow and others acquired it through purchase or donation from other Californians eager to make a new community on their newly acquired acreage. In 1923, United States Route 101 was projected onto what then were two parcels of land grantee Blythe Corporation had purchased near the intersection of State Route 158 and Valhalla Boulevard from Los Angeles County for development as a shopping center with offices and apartments above a movie theater. The routing followed present day Highways 190/190A (now I-5) south from Tustin to Interstate 805 east across Mecca Valley Road past Menifee Hills before curving northeast past Stonington Drive into Temecula proper. At that point SR 158 changed its name to Ventura Boulevard and US 101 became I-5 Alternate which remains today
The first Europeans to visit Temecula were Spanish traders in the early 18th century. The town was founded by a group of Mexicans who were forced to leave their homes near Mission Santa Barbara, California, to seek refuge from the Mexican Inquisition. The Temecula Valley had been uninhabited for centuries before this. In 1875, Temecula became a city after it was incorporated as part of Riverside County. In 1940, Temecula became an airport when Riverside International Airport opened. In 1961, the City Council created the Temecula National Forest and in 1992 it merged with Riverside County's San Bernardino National Forest
