Temecula, California is a small city located in Riverside County, California. The population was 7,853 at the 2010 census. It lies on the San Diego-San Bernardino Fault and is bordered by the cities of Menifee and Murrieta to the north, Agua Dulce to the east, and Temecula Valley to the south. The Temecula River traverses Temecula City limits. The first Europeans to visit what is now Temecula were Spanish soldiers who journeyed through this area in 1769 during their campaign against Mexico. In 1821 Mexican troops sacked and burned Temecula after a skirmish with Native Americans. In 1881 Captain John Denton established a post office at what is now Temecula Boulevard in downtown Temecula and named it after his hometown of New York City. A year later he opened a store called "Denton's Dry Goods" which became one of the largest in town for many years. By 1903 Denton had built several frame buildings on what are now Second Street, Fourth Avenue, Seventh Street, Broadway (now State Route 117), South First Street (now Interstate 5) between Third Avenue and Fifth Avenue; these structures remain today as part of downtown Temecula's business district known as Old Town Area. In 1915 two brothers founded The Coca-Cola Company here by planting an acreage near present day University Drive that would become its main production site for Bottled water products until 2000 when it switched to manufacturing snacks products under its current name bottling company PepsiCo Incorporated . At that time also nearby Menifee Valley grew into one of Southern California's most rapidly growing areas due largely to jobs generated by then newly created aerospace industry companies such as McDonnell Douglas Aircraft Corporation (MDA) , Lockheed Martin Corporation (LMT) , Boeing Co., Intel(INTC) - all based in Escondido at Ramona Airport only about 25 miles away from downtown Los Angeles . These new industries attracted new residents seeking work opportunities within easy commuting distance including many young families who brought their children with them when they moved fromlarger cities fully expecting that they would find good paying jobs right next door like those found in traditional blue collar neighborhoods throughout America back then This growth pattern continued unabated until well into the 1990s when other major metropolitan centers such as San Francisco Chronicle reporter Jerry Brown moved there permanently replaced most large suburban job growth with high tech/software operations followed by medical/healthcare facilities among others rather than professional or bluecollar workers moving into smaller towns across America especially outside coastal Orange County California starting around 1990 having long predicted this happening while warning Californians not to expect similar levels of JOBS & RENTALS coming back home again like happened during much earlier waves of Mainstream American Migration prior to World War II

Temecula is a city in Riverside County, California, United States. The population was 508 at the 2010 census. It is located on the Temecula River, about 30 miles (48 km) northwest of San Bernardino and 60 miles (96 km) northeast of Riverside. The town was founded in 1876 by a group of American Bridgwater farmers who named their settlement after Temecula Creek, then a short distance away. The Temecula Manufacturing Company built a sawmill and other mills around 1891. In 1915 the company merged with Bissell Rubber Corporation to form Proctor-Robbins Industries Incorporated. The Kimberly-Clark company opened its first store in Temecula in 1951 and remains the largest retailer there today. In 1959 Temecula incorporated as an airport serving both rural areas to the east and downtown to the west. Today it is one of Southern California's busiest airports with passenger traffic totaling more than 100 million passengers annually including air cargo operations and landings for major corporations like AT&T, Boeing, Lockheed Martin, UPS and FedEx Ground & Air services; many large military aircraft also use it as an airport reliever station during specific missions or when conditions outside of normal commercial service require such relief from larger airports elsewhere in Southern California

The Simi Hills, which are today part of Temecula, were first settled by Native Americans in the early 1800s.
