Temecula, California is a small city located in Riverside County, California, United States. The population was 33,890 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Riverside-San Bernardino-Ontario Metropolitan Statistical Area. The city is named after Temecula Creek and its namesake Mount Diablo. By 1912, oil had been found offshore and production began; Temecula became one of the leading citrus towns in Southern California because it supplied both local growers and shipbuilders with fruit for export to Asia (the first such shipment being made in 1912).
