Since the early 1800s, Temple City has been home to a group of law enforcement officers. The first policemen in the area were hired by Captain George Armstrong in 1827. The first station was located at what is now the corner of Third and Market Streets. In 1853, officer John Broughton became the first commander of the Police Department in Temple City. From 1870 until 1909, there was only one police officer for every 350 residents. However, during World War I, Temple City enlisted in the military and had two additional police officers assigned to it. After the war, temple city experienced an increase in crime because of prohibition laws that were passed during that time period. In 1923, Mayor Hoberman appointed Officer Harry Weis as the first Deputy Police Chief and began working on creating a new Police Department Headquarters which would serve as the command center for all police operations in downtown Temple City. This new headquarters was built on Elmira Street and opened on October 1st, 1924. The current building is located at Fourth and Walnut streets and replaced an older structure which was destroyed by a fire in 1964

Its growth continued through much of the 20th century; during World War II it had a population over 100,000 people due chiefly to its status as an munitions plant operated by Boeing Airplanes Corporation (later Lockheed Martin). However during most of this time it remained relatively small: its 2010 census counted only 59 households out of a total population of 97,675 people living within its borders! In 2002–2003 templecity received national attention when then Mayor Tom Bradley proposed that it become "the new Silicon Valley". This proposal gained widespread support throughout Orange County until he resigned amidst scandal shortly thereafter; however his successor Keith Cronin pursued similar policies forward without any public discussion or opposition from Temple City residents until January 9th 2019 when he announced that he would be suspending all plans for downtown development pending further review after discovering evidence that somefigure within his administration had engaged in corrupt practices related to real estate transactions!

The U.S. did not take part in that treaty and continued to claim California as part of their own territory until 1898 when they signed a treaty giving California to Spain.
