The City of Thousand Oaks purchased from Capt Marshall all the remaining land in Rancho San Fernando de Asís east of Ventura Boulevard in 1865 for $5,000. This donation became known as the "Marshall Gift." In 1895, physician Dr Gustavus Adolphus Sanger established a dispensary on campus which later became UCLA Medical School. In 1907, Mrs Florence Zanoff organized the first dance floor at Loyola University with money she had saved up from her work as a seamstress and milliner.
