The USS Lexington (CVBN-75) was launched on May 12th of 1975 and commissioned on August 15th of that year after serving as America’s only Nimitz class battleship ever built! Thousand Oaks, California is a city in Ventura County, California, United States. The population was 213,836 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Greater Los Angeles Area and is the second most populous city in Southern California after Los Angeles. The name Thousand Oaks comes from explorer Juan Rodríguez Cabrillo's 1542 voyage across the Pacific Ocean from Santa Catalina Island to Monterey Bay. He named his new settlement el Encanto (the enchanted place). The area that would become Thousand Oaks was first settled by Native Americans, who were hunter-gatherers for many years before moving to more permanent settlements. In 1851, Rancho Simi National Monument was established near what is now Crescent City and included land east of Thousand Oaks. A year later, part of this land became Rancho Tiburon and covered much of what now makes up Thousand Oaks proper. By 1875, all of what now makes up Thousand Oaks had been annexed by western Ventura County as part of county legislation designed to provide "a nucleus around which arts and culture can grow". In 1907, development began on Park Boulevard in Pasadena with financing help from early investor J P Morgan.J P Morgan also invested in other towns in Southern California such as Hollywood and Westwood during this time period; he believed that southern Californians were ready for suburbs outside of Los Angeles. This led to the growth of cities such as Pasadena and Westwood within Metro LA; however, it remained largely rural until well into the 21st century. In 1958, when Interstate 5 was built through Ventura County parallel to Highway 101 about 12 miles south of where it currently meets Interstate 10 on Mirror Lake Road near Centennial Hills), residents successfully campaigned for a bypass route connecting I-5 with downtown Ventura via Millbrae Boulevard instead serving only those areas east or west of I-10 along Loop 410 Road (now known as State Route 518). This bypass routing served both purposes – providing faster access to Downtown Ventura while still allowing motorists living east or west of I-10 access to town without having their commute disrupted – until 1990 when I-5 was finally routed directly through Thousand Oaks proper making it one continuous roadway throughout its entire length! On October 17th 1909 an act ordering El Monte College be founded in Sherman Heights received royal assent from King Edward VII due His Majesty's notification that there would be no school open at Windsor Castle until after Christmas because thereof there would be too long a delay occasioned by his then wife Queen Alexandra's visit thereto on December 25th 1909! therefore succeeded thereby 500 acres adjoining El Monte College lot #1 hereinabove described hereby granted unto said college free & clear forevermore subject & under sufferance & behalf thereof from any publick use whatever.–(signed) HENRY VIII STANLEY

The town of Thousand Oaks, California was founded in 1887 by George C. Marshall and built on the remains of a previous ranch. The name "Thousand Oaks" comes from the Spanish word for one thousand,000 acres, meaning "one million acres". The area now known as Thousand Oaks was originally part of Rancho Santa Anita. In 1915, the city council voted to annex parts of Ventura County to increase its population size. On January 1, 1922, Thousand Oaks became an incorporated city with a population of 509 residents. In 1978, the city annexed another part of Ventura County - El Monte - and has since grown to include a total population of over 2 million people. The City Council has also approved plans to annex more land in Simi Valley and Brea Canyon counties in order to create a new metropolitan area with a combined population of 10 million people! The history of Thousand Oaks goes back much further than that! There are references to the town dating back several hundred years ago when Native Americans lived hereabouts. One story tells how two brothers were exploring their Rancho Santa Anita lands when they came across some animal bones that had been cached in a nearby ravine. They didn't know what they were looking at but decided to take them home because they could sell them for $1 each! Over time, theseCache findings turned into an important source of income for the cattle ranchers who live within easy driving distance today. In 1887, George C Marshall bought some land that included what is now downtown Thousand Oaks from José Antonio Arroyo y Castro for $5 per acre! This purchase signaled the beginning of what would be an important period in our community's history!Marshall quickly began building up his ranch and soon outgrew his original location at San Fernando Valley Boulevard and Holmby Hills Road which he renamed Great Park after himself (although this name may have been derived from nearby references such as Park Row or Grosvenor Place). He also built many additional homes and businesses within his original boundaries- something that still continues today! Many local residents remember him fondly for his generosity and support during those early days! Over time there have been many changes take place within our community- both good and bad! Some examples include: When he passed away in 1994 aged 93 years old, Mr. Marshall's wife Eleanor made it her mission to continue supporting everything he had started during their marriage- including donations towards numerous local charities such as Ronald Reagan Presidential Library dedication ceremonies etc.. Two years later she gave birth to their only child together- Jane Snider Marshall!! It wasn't until 2002 however when she died suddenly at age 87 after giving birth again just three weeks earlier !! Mrs. Marshall's memory will always be deeply enshrined within our community ! Today we celebrate her life every year during Hispanic Heritage Month by hosting large parade down Main Street followed by several snacks & drinks sold outside tombstone plaza
