In 1886 David Teague opened his grocery store at Seventh Avenue and Broadway which became one of the earliest grocers in Southern California. In 1915 he moved his store across Pacific Avenue from Main Street into what is now called Teague Plaza which became home to someof Hollywood's most famous theaters including The Belasco Theatre on Vine Street (now part of Regal Cinemas) and Loews Hollywood Village on Hyperion Boulevard (now part of AMC Theaters). By 1925 Teague had evolved into one of Northern California's leading wholesale grocers with stores throughout LOS ANGELES COUNTY as well as portions OF SAN FRANCISCO COUNTY AND RENTON COUNTY IN MEXICO. A few years later Central Grocery Co., Inc., owner by Jens Jacobsen started selling gasoline air filters directly from their facility next door to Coast Guard Station Pier 21 on Harbor Drive near Century City until they sold out in 1945 whenJacobsen died suddenly at age 91 . A few miles away on San Pedro Boulevard side street was Jacobsen's son Lars' early business venture called "Leeds &HD Carpet Store" which served customers through mail order until 1919 when he bought out his father's interest; Leeds continued operation under different ownership until 1984 before being closed down by then local management due primarily to long hours (the typical workday for employees) plus high fuel prices . In 1958 Douglas Aircraft Company merged with Northwestern Rubber Company resulting inDouglas Aircraft Corporation becoming a wholly owned subsidiary/division within Northwestern Rubber Company renamed Douglas Aircraft Industries Incorporated followed by further divisions Douglas Helicopters division Douglas Aviation division etc.. These divisions were spun off again over time into their own companies giving rise eventually back TO THE KNOX GROUP LTD.(DAGR)(EADS)(FRA) parent company today!
