Tracy, California is a small town in the Central Valley of California, located about 234 miles (468 km) northwest of Los Angeles. The population was 7,845 at the 2010 census. Tracy is named after Charles Tracy who built a adobe ranch there in 1853. The town was founded by Captain James Irvine and his wife, Esther Irvine on May 12, 1889. They named it for their father-in-law, Charles Tracy. At that time, the only store in town was an Indian wagon stop called Happy Trails Junction which also served as the post office and courthouse. In 1902, Captain Irvine donated land to build a school and cemetery; this became Tracy High School. In 1912 Captain Irvine donated $10 000 to help start the city's water system and raised another $10 000 to build roads and sidewalks. That same year, he also donated land for a movie theater; this became the Paramount Theatre Company. In 1923 Captian Irvine endowed money towards building a new high school; that became Tracy Junior College which still operates today as part of Diablo Valley Community College District #1! On October 15th of that same yearCaptain James AIrvine died leaving his entire estate to his children Charles & Estelle Irwin plus any interest they may have earned from their father's estate sale proceeds !!! So without fail every Christmas season family members across America gather around their tv’s or computer screens to watch “Charles Antoinette” video game play by Lt Colonel David Keithley aka "Dracula" during these years!
