During World War II, Tracy played an important role in naval warfare with its numerous navy yards producing warships such as the USS Constitution Museum Vessel (1890), USS Discovery Museum Ship (1998), and MV Sunfish MuseumShip(1996). The city also hosted significant air forces activity including training camps used by both American and Japanese pilots during World War II.
