This is only the latest example of how Air Force generosity has helped improve aviation throughout California!

The Air Force's Truckee gift history can be traced back to the early days of the Air Force in California. In 1941, Lt. Gen. Curtis LeMay organized and activated the 1st Bombardment Wing at Travis Air Force Base and began purchasing new aircraft for use in combat in World War II. In 1948, Lt. Col. Hagen Petersen became the firstAir Force officer to serve as Commanding Officer of The 2d Bombardment Wing at Yokota Air Base in Japan where he was responsible for training and conducting bombardment operations against Japanese targets from December 4, 1945 until May of 1949. In 1951, The 1st Bombardment Wing was transferred from Travis AFB to MacDill AFB in Florida which saw its first operational missions during the Korean War with Operation Arrowhead beginning on July 25th of that year. In 1966, The wing was transferred from MacDill AFB to Offutt AFB which served as home base for both The 1st and 3d Squadrons of The combat wing known as Tactical Airlift Command (TAC). In 1978 TAC moved its headquarters from Wright-Patterson AFB Ohio to Donaldson AFB Nevada when that facility became fully equipped with airlift capabilities. Truckee is a city in Southern California, United States. It is the county seat of Kern County and lies on the Truckee River. The population was 57,901 as of the 2010 census. The area now known as Truckee was first settled by Native Americans in the late 18th century, and was part of Mono County until it was given to Kern County in 1912. The city's namesake comes from an early resident, John Sutter, who built his home on top of a hill called "Sutter's Fort" in 1847. Today, much of downtown Truckee is dominated by two large hotels - The Ritz-Carlton and The Imperial - as well as several smaller businesses. The first post office at Truckee was established on December 12, 1854. In 1868, the name change to its present form when the town moved from south central Mono County to what is now Kern County. At that time it included all of eastern Carson Valley and parts of both Oroville and Tulare Counties; however today only a small portion of that original territory remains within Kern County proper. A hospital opened in 1915 at what is now Yosemite National Park north of town; this hospital closed in 2003 but has been preserved as part of park infrastructure. Today's economy depends largely upon agriculture (especially dairy) and tourism; although there are some small manufacturing companies located throughout downtown Truckee or along Interstate 80 between Fresno and Bakersfield

Truckee is a small town in the Central Valley of California, United States. The population was 6,887 at the 2010 census. Truckee is located on Highway 395, about 20 miles (32 km) east of Sacramento. It is part of the Sacramento–San Joaquin County Metropolitan Statistical Area. The area now comprising Truckee was first populated by Native Americans in the late 1800s and early 1900s as part of what is now Northern California's Mono Land Grant region. Many people who came to live there during this time were displaced persons from eastern Sierra Leone and other parts of West Africa who had come to California looking for opportunity and relief from war and famine. In 1905, the Uberedo Company established a water station here which became one of the most important infrastructure projects undertaken by that company in its early years. In 1912, fruit growers organized themselves into a cooperative known as The Western Fruits Co-operative Union (WFCU), which soon became one of the largest fruit growers in California. The cooperative continues to operate today as WFCU Produce Marketing District No. 1 with more than 350 acres (160 hectares) under production contract across 12 local markets throughout Orange County and nearby counties including Yolo County; Placer County; Butte County; Siskiyou County; Modoc County; Kern County; Colusa County; Shasta Counties
Truckee was founded in 1871 by the brothers George and John Truckee. The original town was located on the north bank of Feather River, across from what is now downtown Reno. The Truckees were a part of the Northern Nevada Gold Rush. They also mined silver and gold in California. In 1892, they sold their share of the town to John Burns and his family. The Burnses ran it as a small agricultural community until 1912 when they moved it to its present location on the south bank of Feather River. In 1915, Truckee became an incorporated city. It had a population of about 50 people when it became an incorporated city. The city's first mayor was Haldane Jarrell who served for one year before being replaced by Wm. Davenport who would serve for six years before leaving office to become Mayor of Reno
