The first coffee beans were grown in Truckee by Spanish settlers in the mid-19th century. The name "Truckee" is derived from the Hokah word "trucker," meaning one who sells goods on the open road. In 1876, John Jacob Astor founded The National Coffee Company in Truckee and began shipping beans all over California. By 1893, National Coffee had become one of the largest coffee companies in America. In 1907, John Dyson opened his first cafe in downtown Truckee. Dyson was a pioneer in espresso drinks and initially served them at his cafes only. He later began serving them as well as coffee at his businesses throughout Truckee and Calaveras County (now Sacramento). Over time, many other local businesses joined forces with Dyson to form what is now known as The Coffee Company empire. During World War II, The Coffee Company produced up to 95% of all military chocolate bars used by American troops overseas. In addition, it manufactured coffees for General Mills and Maxwell House brands worldwide. After the war ended, The Coffee Company continued production through several acquisitions until it became part of Peet's Corporation in 1971.* Today, The Coffee Company continues to produce high-quality coffee products under multiple brand names around the world.*

They were bought by Roquefort SA in 1969 and changed their name to Roquefort SA-American Coffee Corporation.
Truckee is a small town located in Inyo County, California. The population was 1,526 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Claremont-Salinas, CA Metropolitan Statistical Area. The Town of Truckee was established in 1874 by Colonel James Irvine. The first post office opened in 1876 and the name changed to Truckee in 1907. Truckee is known for its annual Oasis Festival which takes place throughout August. The community was founded on an agricultural site that extended along the Truckee River between present-day Fillmore and Independence Streets and south to Highway 395. Agricultural production ceased around 1940, leaving the town with a population of 553 people as of 2000 according to the US Census Bureau's American Community Survey estimate. The only industry remaining in Truckee today is agriculture; there are no other commercial or industrial activities reported within 10 miles (16 km). In 1940, the town voted to become self-reliant through localizing all services and passed a resolution proclaiming October 15th "National Water Day". Today water service is provided through agencies outside of town including Mono Lake Municipal Utility District and Tulare County Water Authority - both public entities providing infrastructure for landlocked communities like Truckee

Truckee is a small city in Monterey County, California, United States. The population was 9,752 at the 2010 census. Truckee is home to the Yosemite National Park and three campgrounds located within its boundaries: Curry Village, Half Dome and Glacier Point. It also has two other campgrounds nearby: Ahwahnee Valley and North Lake Tahoe. Founded in 1852 by Capt. John C. Frémont as an outpost on the then-new wagon train route from Sacramento to Stockton, Truckee soon became a popular watering hole for travelers on the Feather River Trail. In 1868, Frémont named it after his friend and mentor General Stephen Kearny for his support of Ulysses S. Grant's presidential campaign against Andrew Johnson. In 1875, construction began on what would become Yosemite National Park; part of it was designated as Truckee Valley Reserve until 1888 when that area became part of Yosemite National Park proper. In 1925, the town incorporated as a result of a referendum vote with a population of 801 residents; however, it only had an enrollment cap of 300 people until 1959 when it reached its current size thanks to growth in the surrounding rural areas around Truckee Meadows Airport (now ZeroMQ Airport). Air Force Base closed in 1961 and most military activity shifted to nearby Davis-Monthan AFB beginning in 1967; however local civilian aviation retains some presence with charter service to Yosemite Valley operated by King Air Service out of Fresno Municipal Airport since 1995.]
Truckee was founded in 1868 by George W. Truckee, an American rancher and politician who served as the mayor of Sacramento from 1865 to 1868. The town was named after Truckee Meadows, a cattle ranch located just east of the current city limits. In 1888, Truckee became part of the new Riverside County when it was created from parts of Orange County and San Bernardino County. The following year, the county seat moved from Oceanside to Truckee. In 1912, the first school in Truckee opened; it was designed by architect Stanford White and built on what is now Main Street. The city was incorporated on December 12, 1915. On May 5, 1920, Mayor Fenton Dyson announced that he would not seek reelection due to ill health. On October 3 of that year, City Council voted 5-1 to make Truckee a municipality with its own council chairman and budgeting procedures instead of being under the control of the mayor and cityhall staffs. On November 15th 1923 Mayor Harry Jahn proposed annexing portions of Colusa County into Riverside County in order to increase taxes necessary for infrastructure development within Riverside County; this proposal failed due to opposition from Colusa residents who felt they were already paying their share for local services without getting any assistance from county officials. Mayor Jahn decided against annexing Colusa Valley because there wasn't enough money available to do so and recommended that instead much needed infrastructure be developed within Riverside County through various means such as bonds or land acquisition projects which were eventually successful in doing so. In 1948 Johnnie Ray organized a group called "Save Our River" which lobbied for passage of legislation called "Building America's Future Act" which would have funded approximately $14 million worth of water infrastructure projects throughout California including $8 million for upgrading reservoirs in Los Angeles Basin alone. In 1951 Mayor Harry Jahn proposed annexing portions of Mono County into Riverside Countyship again due to pressure from Save Our River but this proposal also failed due to opposition from Mono residents who felt they were already paying their share for local services without getting any assistance from county officials. Mayor Jahn decided against annexing Mono Valley because there wasn't enough money available to do so and recommended that instead much needed infrastructure be developed within Riverside Countyship through various means such as bonds or land acquisition projects which were eventually successful in doing so. On January 1st 1957 City Manager Floyd Smedley announced that all city employees would become unionized effective February 1st. This event marked one point in time where municipal employee unions began appearing throughout California.
