The United States Naval Forces Central Command (NAVFORCENTER) is the naval component of the United States Armed Forces responsible for strategic operations in Southeast Asia and South Asia. The NAVFORCENTER command oversees all U.S. Naval forces committed to our region, including amphibious warfare, airpower, maritime security, and defense Cooperation Organization (DOC) members. Since its birth in 1951 as a subordinate command of Fleet Admiral Chester Nimitz's Pacific Ocean Theater commander, the U.S. Navy's 5th Fleet has been permanently stationed at Truckee Meadows Resort on Lake Tahoe in Nevada since 1964 when it was moved from Pearl Harbor, Hawaii following the Vietnam War. In 1978-79 5th Fleet relocated to Subic Bay Philippines during Operation Cedar Falls which was an effort by then-President Jimmy Carter to improve regional military ties with member nations of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN). The presence of 5th Fleet at Truckee Meadows made it possible for both sides to hold joint exercises there year round and also created a opportunities for cultural exchanges between American servicemen and their Philippine counterparts who had until then only seen each other on ships or in propaganda videos envoy missions to North Korea or China. In 2006-2007 USS Enterprise (CVN 70) deployed with Carrier Strike Group 3 aboard after being decommissioned from service 25 years earlier - this was the first time that a carriers have ever been deployed together within any theater worldwide since World War II! The deployment marked significant milestone for CVN 70 as it became one of just four aircraft carriers still afloat in the world! Additionally, Enterprise participated in three days long Exercise Forward Operating Base Spirit Rock which simulated an enemy invasion into Guam which took place in November 2007 from September 11th through 13th! This exercise simulated multiple scenarios that could occur if aggression were directed against one or more ASEAN nations should terrorists gain entry into Guam! After initially being scheduled for Spring 2009 but pulled due to budget constraints affecting all Navy commands across grades and types of ships underway at sea; CVN 70 again traveled overseas deployments throughout 2010 conducting carrier independent operations off US coasts!! During these deployments she conducted numerous anti piracy patrols off Somalia while also conducting humanitarian aid flights off Haiti Earthquake survivors! She completed her maiden voyage back home port San Diego on October 15th 2011 making her 81st consecutive deployment without incident! CVN 70 returned homeported on December 10th 2011 after completing more than 1000 miles offshore conductning combat operations strike patrols over Iraq/Syria!!! On July 20th 2014 USS Dwight D Eisenhower(CVN 68)Deployed with Carrier Strike Group 4 aboard after being decommissioned from service 9 years earlier - this was another significant milestone for CVN 68 as it became one of just two former escort carriers still afloat!!!!!!!!!!!!! Additionally, Eisenhower participated in three days long Exercise Carpentaria which simulated an enemy invasion into Puerto Rico which took place on September 13TH 2013 from August 18 thru 22nd!!!!!!!!!!!!! This exercise simulated multiple scenarios that could occur if aggression were directed against ASEAN nations!!!!

Polk to the US Navy in 1854. It served as the flagship of Admiral John Farragut’s fleet during the American Civil War. The Constitution was sunk off Charleston Harbor on April 12, 1865, after being used as target practice by Confederate forces. She was eventually salvaged and returned to service with the US Navy in 1922. USS Perry In 1942, Rear Admiral William Halsey donated USS Perry (CV-3) to the US Navy for use as an amphibious assault ship during World War II. She played a significant role in both naval operations against Japan and also participated inOperation Torch which took place across North Africa Operation Overlord Commander Rear Adm Harry Wainwright attributed his victory over Nazi Germany to Perry’s help: “Without her we would not have had success; without her I could not have taken Kent Island without heavy losses; without her I could not have landed my troops on Omaha Beach...She furnished invaluable services at Pearl Harbor” (Wainwright). At its peak she held 24 officers and 547 enlisted men under her command

Truckee was first settled in 1848 by John Sutter and his family. The town grew rapidly due to the influx of miners and their families. By 1862, Truckee had a population of over 1,000 people. The town became an important railhead for goods travelling up the Sacramento Valley. In 1881, Truckee was renamed Califorina City after Gov. Francis Folsom issued a proclamation calling for the name change because of its importance as a rail junction and agricultural center. Califorina City was incorporated as a city on February 14, 1902. The city's growth slowed in the 1920s as it suffered from World War II veterans' returning home with health problems and economic recession. However, development resumed in the late 1980s with the opening of several new businesses including California State University at Long Beach (CSULB) and Pardee Park Resort & Spa which has since become one of Truckee's most popular tourist attractions.
