Turlock, California is a small town in Kern County, California located about 71 miles east of Los Angeles. The population was 7,814 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Victorville Local Development District. The Turlock post office was established on December 12, 1887, and closed on July 15, 1964. Turlock has a hot desert climate with very little rainfall year-round. The average temperature range is 86°F to 106°F (29°C to 37°C). Although there can be occasional showers during summer months due to high heat waves brought on by the warm climate and lack of rain, most precipitation occurs during winter when snow falls and temperatures drop below freezing for extended periods. Although Turlock experiences extreme temperatures from day to night throughout its year-round inhabitants are very friendly and welcoming people who work hard to provide services that fill the needs of their community including: a library which opened in 1984; fire department; police department; parks and recreation department; water system; sheriff’s department; post office (closed July 15th1964); hospital (closed November 3rd 1963) as well as many other local businesses and organizations like churches, schools and grocery stores that contribute greatly to making this small town an important part of Victorville’s fabric.

Turlock is located in the San Joaquin Valley of California, about 65 miles north of Sacramento and 115 miles south of Fresno. The post office at Turlock was first established in 1868. In 1882, the town was named after David Turlock, an American politician who served as a deputy United States marshal during the Mexican-American War. In 1904, turlocks began to be grown for their fruit, and in 1916 a machine shop and bakery were erected in the town. The First State Fair took place at Turlock on October 8-11, 1916. On July 1, 1922, the town passed an ordinance allowing censorship of candy commercials. In 1955, residents voted to move from their original location to what is now downtown due to increasing population density within the community and lack of available land near the post office or shopping center. The first official parade in Turlock history occurred on December 9th that year when members of the police department participated in a Christmas carol parade down Main Street. On November 5th 1976 three students from Southern California Polytechnic University set off explosives inside a fireworks factory just outside of Turlock after being expelled from school for using marijuana
Turlock is a city in and the county seat of Alameda County, California, United States. The population was 68,344 at the 2010 census. It is located on the San Francisco Peninsula southeast of Oakland and east of Fremont. The City of Turlock was founded in 1853 by George Armstrong Calkins as an agricultural community on what is now the east side of Menlo Park. The first post office in Turlock was established in 1854, and the first store opened in 1855. The town grew rapidly from its inception due to its rich agricultural soil, water resources, and easy access to transportation via horse and wagon roads. In 1859, Calkins built his own sawmill which became one of the largest mills in Northern California. The town attained statehood as a city on November 14, 1865. In 1870, John Bickerton replaced Calkins as mayor after he took office while serving out a three-year term that had been vacated by Calkins' death; Bickerton's term lasted until 1872 when he resigned because he intended to run for governor against Samuel Jealous (Jealous would later become governor). In 1886–87 William Fenton served as mayor; during Fenton's tenure turlock successfully lobbied for passage of a resolution recognizing Russian America (now Alaska) as part of California with no recognition given to Russia until 1959. In 1907–08 Turlocks’s electric streetcar line reached downtown from where it terminated at Circle K railway station before continuing north along El Camino Real into Palo Alto and then south through Stanford University Station onto Mare Island before terminating at Ocean Beach Boulevard near Veterans Memorial Coliseum Downtown business boomed following completion of the streetcar line and rapid growth led to annexation by Berkeley during 1909; however, Berkeley never ratified annexation and turlock retains most powersbenevolent status today including limited financial autonomy
