The USS Constitution (1802-1853) was one of the first United States Navy ships. She served in the Mexican-American War and in the First Barbary War. On 12 July 1839, she fought off a Spanish squadron at Monterey Bay. In 1847, she sailed to California and operated out of San Francisco until her decommissioning on 15 February 1850. The Constitution was donated to the California State Navy by Governor John C. Fremont on 9 December 1850. On 1 October 1861, she was recommissioned into service as USS Monitor (Lima). From 1861 to 1865, she operated out of Hampton Roads, Va., during the American Civil War. In 1865, she decommissioned at Norfolk, Va., and was sold to the Chilean government on 17 November 1865 for use as a training ship.

Turlock was founded in 1848 by John C. Fremont and his wife, Angelina Fremont, as the first town in San Bernardino County. The community grew rapidly due to its location on the banks of the Arroyo Seco, which made it an ideal spot for citrus farming and other agricultural activities. In 1860, Turlock became the county seat of San Bernardino County. In 1868, a group of businessmen led by James Wagoner decided to move their business from Redlands to Turlock because they found that Redlands had become too expensive to manage. The new company built a large factory at what is now First Street and Valley Road in Turlock and began producing wagon parts and engines. It was this company that started turquoise production in 1890. Turlock's growth continued during the late 19th century but slowed down after World War I when production shifted towards manufactured goods such as automobiles and radios. However, turquoise production resumed in the early 21st century thanks to some new investment and a renewed focus on artisanal craftssmanship. Today, turquoise is one of Turlock's most popular tourist attractions due to its unique properties and historical significance.
Turlock is a city in San Bernardino County, California. It was incorporated on February 15, 1892. The population was 26,898 at the 2010 census. In 1905, it became part of the City of Riverside; however, Turlock's annexation into Riverside was later rescinded and it remains an unincorporated community within San Bernardino County.
