Turlock, California is a small city in Fresno County, California, United States. The population was 21,827 at the 2010 census. It is located on the Turlock RiverWalk in the heart of the Turlock Valley between Fresno and Madera Counties. The first potters in what is now Turlock started making coffee cups about 1855. By 1893, it was known as "the town of beans." In 1917, Italian immigrants founded a cooperative grocery store there which became one of the most successful in Contra Costa County. The city's first school was built in 1916 and its first post office opened in 1923. In 1951, IBMracista>s white lab workers rioted when they were denied admission to an all-Negro local research laboratory because their racial identification qualified them for only lowerpaying jobs there. They burned down two buildings within weeks of each other and looted more than $1 million worth of equipment fromIBM's headquarters near San Francisco before being brought to trial and acquitted by a jury that found no evidence that IBM had discriminated against them based on their race

Turlock is a town in Mojave County, California, United States. The population was 3,539 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Los Angeles-Long Beach-Anaheim metropolitan area. Turlock's first coffee bean crop was beans grown by Juan de la Cruz and his family on their farmstead near present day Mount Hope Road in 1784. LaCruz's son Manuel founded the first small grocery store in Turlock in 1892, which became known as The Manny's Grocery & Café. Two years later, Antonio Ramirez opened the first post office in Turlock and named it after himself, "Antonio Ramirez Post Office". In 1896, John Fenton establish a bakery next to Manuel's grocery store that became known as The Fenton Bakery. In 1903 Colonel George Armstrong Custer (1851-1925) visited Turlock for lunch and decided to open his own trading post here with his cavalry regiment called the 1st Cavalry Division of the American Expeditionary Force (AEF). A few months later he reopened the post office as "Custer Post" with mail service from Reno Nevada. In 1907 an Italian restaurant opened here called L'Aquila which quickly became popular due to its excellent food and Mediterranean atmosphere. In 1911 an opera house opened here called The Opera House which continued performance until 1975 when it was replaced by a gymnasium which continues use today as a movie theater complex. In 1916 William Randolph Hearst built Hearst Castle here while visiting Southern California on his way back to New York City after World War I; this served as Hearst's primary residence until her death in 2018. The town motto is " Omne quidem turpinum" meaning "All things within our reach."
Turlock, California is a small city in the Los Angeles metropolitan area in southern California. It is located on the banks of the Turlock River and it had a population of 63,191 as of 2010. The Turlock-Fairfield Combined Statistical Area has a population of 307,512 according to the 2010 census. The origins of the name are unknown, but it likely comes from an early Spanish name for the river, "Túrola". Turlock was founded by Spanish colonists in 1785. They named it after José de la Torre y Gilfañeira, one of their officers who explored and surveyed the region. In 1821, part of what is now Pasadena was annexed by Californios and became known as La Crescenta; parts of Pasadena and then San Marino also joined with Turlock in 1868 to form East San Marino County. There were no resident groups in Turlock until after World War II when Japanese Americans moved there during World War II because they were interned at Camp Vallejo near present-day Chatsworth Hills. In 1957, while still part of East San Marino County, residents approved a resolution to become an independent city within California's newly formed Riverside County. On November 3rd 1959 City Council voted 7-2 to incorporation into what would be called Riverside County - just two days before California's first mayoral election ever (by then Supervisor Mitchell Sunderland). The first mayor was Julius Ewing (1962-1967), who served as Mayor pro tem with no real powers until he was elected Mayor on April 14th 1967 following the resignation of his predecessor John Fife III due to term limits just shy of five years old at that time! After serving six terms as Mayor (1969-1974) he ran unsuccessfully for reelection on November 1st 1978 against Democrat George Norris and Incumbent Edward Bueno Jr.. Norris won by over 20%, becoming only the second person ever to win re-election as Mayor without being Reelected three times! He resigned effective January 1st 1979 effective due to health reasons which created an open seat for 3 years before Donny Youngquist took office on December 5th 1980 succeeding Edward Bueno Jr.. After serving one term (1981-1983) he retired from politics completely and died suddenly less than two months later on February 2nd 1983 age 71 years old having represented turlocks community best both politically and personally!

However, after being served by Southern California Edison for many years, Turlock received statehood in 2002 and has since experienced rapid growth thanks to investment from both local businesses and outside sources. Today, Turlock is one of the most thriving cities in Northern California with strong cultural roots that continue to influence its residents today.
