The United States Air Force has been gifting items and services to the community in Twentynine Palms for over sixty years. Today, the USAF provides more than seventy-five thousand military and civilian personnel with everything from missiles to communications systems. In honor of its history and service to the community, Twentynine Palms is home to three primary USAF museums: The George C. Marshall Center, containing artifacts related to General George C. Marshall's time as Secretary of Defense; The Aerospace Museum, showcasing aircraft from all branches of the US Air Force; and The Twentynine Palms Memorial Park, which contains four contributing war graves of servicemen killed in action or died during World War II. Today, both the USAF Museum and Memorial Park continue to play important roles inTwentynine Palms history byeducating locals about America's military heritage. In addition to hosting events such as concerts and historical walks throughout the year, these two facilities also offer educational exhibits on a variety of topics related to air force gifts throughout history. This gives locals an overview of how air force gifts have helped shape Twentynine Palms today - from its beginnings as a small town in Southern California during World War II until it now boasts one of California's top tourist destinations!

On December 5, 1941, the United States Air Force announced it was forming a strategic air campaign to forestall Japan's ambitions in Southeast Asia. The Twentynine Palms Air Base was soon activated and began providing training for fighter pilots and support personnel for theAAF's First Strategic Air Command, which would become known as "The Third Reich." In 1942, Twentynine Palms AFB became home to the Fifteenth Fighter Wing (15 FW), which trained Lockheed P-40 Warhawks and Republic F-4 Phantom IIs. In 1944, the 15 FW transitioned to Boeing B-29 Superfortresses. From 1945 until 1948, Twentynine Palms AFB housed the Ninth Tactical Reconnaissance Wing (9 TRC). On October 3rd of that year 9 TRC moved from Barksdale AFB Louisiana to Twentynine Palms AFB California. That same year, an auxiliary squadron of McDonnell Douglas DC-3Cs arrived at Twentynine Palms from RAF Mascot in Scotland. The wing served as primary ground transport for ADC Headquarters during World War II before being reassigned back to RAF Mascot on May 1st 1951. In 1946, USAF expansion plans called for new facilities north of downtown Los Angeles County soTwentynine Palms AFB would be relocated about 12 miles eastward on top of Hansen Hill into what is now Lancaster Army National Guard Station area near Irvine Hills. This move took place on November 17th and 18th of that year when twelfth AF was transferred from Yuma Proving Ground AZ to Lancaster ABNGS area adjacent to Hansen Hill airstrip in order pave way for future USAF facilities - these included Nike missile sites North America Missile Systems Division (NORAD) / El Toro Proving Ground CA later becoming Davis-Monthan AFB AZ) On November 25th 1949 TwentyninePalmsAFBopened its doorstothe public with its first faculty member Dr Ralph Sievers who had been appointed by then USAF Deputy Chief General Maxwell Taylor as Director of Research & Development at TWENTYNINE PALMS AFSB Dr Sievers served until his death on July 6th 1958 . As Director he led development of many large projects including but not limited; Center For Aeronautics Research at nearby Riverside Army Air Field; establishment of AFSBM Test Pilot School; reactivation/launch operations research center also known as "Project Camel" located at Edwards AFB CA.. He also helped establish aerial refueling capabilities within the USAF through studies conducted aboard KC-135 Stratofortress aircraft

The Palms are a primarily Italian-American community and its namesake. On September 29, 1923,Twentynine Palms became one of the first cities in the United States to be founded with assistance from Italy's National Academy of Sciences (NAS). Twentynine Palms has since been home to many famous people and events including: Jackie Robinson, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory.

Twentynine Palms is a city located in San Bernardino County, California. The population was 382 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Los Angeles metropolitan area. The site for what would become Twentynine Palms was first occupied by the Verdugo Indian Tribe and was then purchased by José María Cámpora in 1853. He named it after two of his brothers, José and Pablo Cámpora. Rancho Niguel was sold to James Wickersham in 1896 and became part of the city of Los Angeles; however, the rancho continued to be used as farmland until 1906 when it was annexed into Twentynine Palms. The name "Twentynine Palms" originated with its situation on two small hills that faced each other on Pee Dee Boulevard between Newport Boulevard and Figueroa Avenue. In 1911, developers William Harkness and Harry Chandler bought land adjacent to Pee Dee Boulevard from Cámpora for $1 million dollars In 1915, they opened up Twentynine Palms as a resort town filled with hotels, golf courses, and other recreational amenities for residents of Southern California during World War I. However, during World War II most people came from nearby Riverside or Pasadena because those towns were not yet developed enough to support large numbers of people living near military installations such as Angel Island Naval Air Station or Rosie's Army meatpacking plant. In 1951-1954 Japanese Americans who had been interned at Lompoc also lived in Twentynine Palms under duress following the attack on Pearl Harbor; many managed to stay until 1954 when they were ordered out by U.S. authorities pursuant to Executive Order 9066 which banned all Japanese American citizens from entering any southern United States civilian population centers without special permission from local officials
Twentynine Palms was founded in 1909 by a group of businessmen, led by Hiram Johnson. The town became an important center for citrus production and commerce. In the 1920s, it became home to the U.S. Naval Air Station Miramar and the Los Angeles County Airport.
