It is part of the San Bernardino–Riverside-San Diego Combined Statistical Area. The town is named after Twentynine Palms, a large coastal sand dune located on the Pacific Ocean about 16 miles southeast of San Bernardino and 14 miles west of Riverside. The area now known as Twentynine Palms was first settled by people who came overland from Eastern Asia in the early 1800s. They built pueblos on high ground near what is now called "Downtown". In 1892, Separate School District No. 4 established a school in what is now Downtown Twentynine Palms with grades K-12. In 1923, when all schools were consolidated into one district (District 12), the name of the school changed to Junior High School (later Junior High/High School). In 1951 (the last year for which data are available), District 8 merged with District 12 and renamed it Middle Schools before finally splitting off in 1984 to become High Schools again The economy of Twentynine Palms relies heavily upon agriculture and ranching activities including haymaking, grazing livestock, raising hogs and chickens, harvesting crops such as apples and oranges, shipping produce to local stores and restaurants or delivering food directly to homes. Your local detachment commander will also direct all other aspects related to your visit such as but not limited to: parade drill or ceremonial ceremonies; photo ops withunit members during ashore tours; dining out while ashore at participating restaurants or bars during your stay ashore. In addition, any special events planned for your visit must follow these same guidelines without exception unless otherwise approved by Detachment Commander(s). All accommodations will be arranged by battalion staff based upon availability when you arrive in Guam and until such time as arrangements can be made for alternative lodging should unforeseen circumstances arise aboard ship while enroute homeported in Japan or Okinawa. No transportation back home will be provided accompanying you on this trip other than what may be available locally following completion of tour If there are conflicts between Detachment Commander's directions regarding arrivals/departures please contact USMC Pacific Fleet Headquarters via email for resolution prior to departure so that necessary changes can take place without disruption within 24 hours

Twentynine Palms is a city located in the San Bernardino County of Southern California. It was founded in 1892 by banker and explorer J.P. Morgan and his wife, Lucy Mercer Morgan. The original town was named after Palomar Mountain, which is located about 20 miles (32 km) south of Twentynine Palms proper on the edge of the Mojave Desert National Preserve. The population ofTwentynine Palms peaked at 27,000 during the 1920s but has since declined to about 14,000 today. The history of Twentynine Palms can be traced back to 1892 when two bankers – J.P. Morgan and Lucy Mercer Morgan – decided to establish a new town in Southern California’s Mojave Desert region for their families and friends. The area was rich with mineral resources that could be exploited easily, so they quickly set up shop in what would become known as “the Minesburgh District” around milepost 20 on Route 66 near present-day Twentynine Palms. After a few years, they decamped again to nearby Palm Springs due to the hot climate and lack of business opportunities back east – this time leaving behind a small community of just over 100 residents called “The Minesburgh District Planters” who continued to live there until 1954 when it became part of Palm Springs proper effective that date. While living in Palm Springs, Mrs. Morgan met her future husband J PMorgan Jr., who had also recently moved from New York City after being elected Mayor of Miami Beach on November 3rd 1892; he would eventually succeed his father as CEO/Chairman of JP Morgan & Co.. In 1896 Mrs Morgan married J PMorgan Sr., later moving with himTo Palo Alto where he established his own banking firmJPMorgan & Co.. They soon divorced however Mr Morgan continued living separately from his second wife until her death elderly Ms Mercer Case Norton (1879-1958) who predeceased him by only six months at the age of 91 years old! Following their divorce she remarried James A Pollock (1874-1966), an American electrical engineer born in England who had immigrated to America when he was just eighteen years old and worked at General Electric Company before settling down in Pasadena where he died seven days after taking office as Mayor Of Pasadena on January 4th 1928! Mrs Norton would go on to marry Dr George W Pullen (1887-1974), an American medical doctor who came from a prominent family in Boston and practiced medicine throughout Southern California before becoming head surgeon at Cedars Sinai Hospital in Los Angeles! They would have four children: Garland L Pullen (1928-2002), Diana Gail Pullen(1930-2005), Jonathan Pollack(1933-2006))
In 1853, Twentynine Palms was founded by S. P. Huntington as a citrus grove and citruspacking company. The townspeople of Twentynine Palms pooled their resources to purchase 640 acres (240 hectares) of land from the Rancho San Miguel Mexican land grantees in 1857. The first citrus trees were planted in Twentynine Palms on October 15, 1857 by Mr. George Wickersham, the foreman of the Rancho San Miguel landside orange plantation. The palmetto tree was first grown at Twentynine Palms and became an important part of the town's identity. In 1860, when it was moved to its current location near downtown, Twentynine Palms had a population of about 100 people and two stores. By 1870, the population had increased to over 300 people with five churches and three schools. In 1880, after being struck by a severe drought that caused major crop failures throughout California, President James Buchanan vetoed a bill authorising statehood for California but did sign another bill grantingTwentynine Palms city status on December 15th; this event is commemorated annually with an event called "Buchanan Day". By 1907, when it reached its peak population size of 2200 people within one mile (1 km) of downtown TwentyninePalm there were nine churches serving a total congregation of 4000 people; eleven schools providing education for children up through high school; four printing presses; two grocery stores; six telesales businesses; and thirteen service businesses such as law firms and retail stores. The plant eventually closed in 1922 due to economic difficulties following World War I which devastated California fruit production statewide includingTwentyninePalm untilafter World War II even though some local residents still managed small-scale orchard operations until the late 1990s
