There has been a Shooter's Gift history in Ukiah, California dating back to the early 1800s. The first mention of a shooting game in this town was in 1852 when two men played on a sandbank near the docks. There are references to shooters playing games at various places around Ukiah over the years, but it is not clear if these were actually tournaments or simply social events. In 1864, John A. Hickey opened his store and Gallery located on State Street and soon started selling firearms and ammunition. This led to increased activity at the store and other businesses around town that sold weaponry, including one called "The Pistol Shop" which operated from 1865-1868 on First Street east of Main Street. By 1874, there were five businesses in Ukiah with weapons sales accounting for 50% of all retail sales in the town. It's likely that this increase in gun sales came about as a result of increasing hostilities between Native American tribes and European settlers across the area; however, no specific dates or incidents are known for this time period. Gun buying became more common among wealthier residents during this time as well which may have contributed to increased violence within our community due to gangsters taking advantage of low-income people who lacked protection from gunfire. In 1892, Ceddie & Sons Store on Santa Cruz Avenue began selling rifles (and later shotguns) through their mail order service. This business allowed customers to pick up their orders either at their place of employment or home; thus starting what would become an important part of rifle distribution throughout Ukiah – brick-and-mortar stores catering specifically to Rifle owners! It wasn't until 1916 when J M White opened his hardware store next door (now occupied by Lowe's) that Rifle Distribution really took off within our community! From here on out, we saw steady growth in Rifle ownership coming from both individuals and businesses alike! shotgun purchases also continued to rise during this time as people realized just how much firepower was available for purchase now that rifle hunting had become so popular! With all these different sources of ammo availability back then (+ the always present problem of counterfeiting!), it's safe to say that Shooter gifts have been partofUkiah culture for many years now!

Ukiah, California is a small town located in the heart of the wine country of Northern California. The community was founded in 1847 by brothers Elijah and George Ukiah on a tract of land that was part of the Rancho Diablo grant. The Ukiah post office was established in 1853, and the first school was built in 1861. The town became a city in 1959 and has grown to be one of the most vibrant communities in Northern California. The Ukiah area has been inhabited by Native Americans for more than 10,000 years. In 1776, while fighting British forces near Ukiah Creek, American troops killed five Native Americans including their leader Chief Joseph. This event is commemorated with a monument located just outside of town. In 1847, brothers Elijah and George Ukiah started developing what would become known as Rancho Diablo – an extensive cattle ranch that stretched from Sonoma County into Napa County. It was here that he began to produce some of the world’s earliest wines. He also developed a vineyard here which would eventually be named for him – George Ukiah Winery (now closed). In 1860, when San Francisco became a city, Ukiah decided to move his family there rather than continue living on the ranch under constant threat of Indian attack. The family settled on McAllister Street within present-day downtown Ukiah; they had originally planned to name their new home “Church House” after one of their aging parents who had died while living at Rancho Diablo; however, Church House quickly became known as “UkiaHaus” after its founder's friends and neighbors who came to visit them during their early days as residents of this thriving community. The rapidlygrowing city annexed much of northwestern Napa County in 1909 following referenda held by both City Council members John Wickersham and Harry Chandlerus entitled “Annexation Petition No 2: An Act To Annex Part Of Napa County To And From Which All Persons Resident therein Shall Be Directed To Make payment Upon Rent For Each Month That They Live In Annexed Territory” During World War II, many local businesses participated actively in the war effort through such activities as productionof munitions or manufacturing military items like planes or tanks. Many locals also served in our country’s armed forces during wartime; examples include Mayor Harry Chandlerus (1941-1945) who rose to fame as Commandant General United States Army Air Forces Europe; Captain Emmett Rourke (1943-1945), Commanding Officer 5th Naval District Pacific Fleet Air Base Camp Pendleton WWII Commander responsible for airlift operations over Leyte Gulf Philippines; Lieutenant Colonel John Sperry (1944-1945), commanding officer 8th Infantry Division Vietnam Campaign Headquarters responsible for Soldiers intelligence gathering inside Laos
Ukiah was founded in 1797 by Captain John C. Folsom and his brother, James Folsom. The town of Ukiah was named for the Uva River which flows through it. The town experienced growth during its early days; by 1825, it had a population of 350 people. In 1852, Ukiah became an incorporated town with a population of 1,000 people. The town saw some rapid growth in the late 1800s and early 1900s due to its location on the Central Coast between San Francisco and Los Angeles. In 1907, Ukiah became the first city in California to have electric lights.
