The Coast Guard in Union City, California has been providing service to the community since 1872. The Union City Coast Guard Auxiliary was organized on December 3, 1923. The Auxiliary was first stationed in Huntington Beach and then in Redondo Beach. In 1951 the Auxiliary moved to its current location in Union City. The Auxiliary is a volunteer organization and has numerous programs including safety patrols, law enforcement assistance, hazardous material response, environmental protection, and Christmas Day caroling.
Union City, California is a city in San Bernardino County, California. The population was 23,874 at the 2010 census. As of the 2000 census, the city had a population of 17,651. Union City is located on the eastern edge of downtown San Bernardino and is bordered by Redlands to the east and west and Riverside to the north. The first Europeans to explore what is now Union City were Spanish missionaries in 1690. The Mission San Gabriel Arcángel was founded in 1827 and soon became a major center for trade with Mexico and Central America. In 1847, the United States acquired land south of Mount Wilson from Mexico in what is now Riverside County. With this new land came new opportunities for agriculture and development as well as growth in trade with other parts of California. In 1851, George Wickersham began construction on what would become known as Wickersham Center which would house commercial buildings and serve as a transportation hub for central San Bernardino County. By 1870, Union City had reached its peak economic activity thanks to its status as an agricultural center, its close proximity to other cities in central California (including Los Angeles), its access to water resources through wells drilled near present-day Lake Arrowsmith (now Agua Caliente), and its location on Route 66 which made it an easy gateway into southern Californias booming mining towns such as Mojave Desert (northwest of nearby Tehachapi) or Oroville Valley (southwest of today’s Victorville). However, during that time period railroadroads replaced stagecoaches as transportation options between larger metropolitan areas across northern California; this led to decline in business activity within Union City over time while also reducing access to transportation for workers seeking relocation or better job prospects elsewhere outside of town. After years of decline throughout most of the 20th century Union City experienced some resurgence starting around 1990 when developers redeveloped several former warehouse complexes along Main Street into high-density housing Units called “The Walk” developments with streetscape enhancements that effectively revived much lost commercial district history including historic storefronts restored/landscaped atop existing facades; these redevelopment efforts are ongoing today despite occasional protests by preservationists who allege that these changes have reversal effects on historical character Preservation efforts have focused more attention on overall appearance than functionality since many large businesses closed decades ago which has resulted in increased vandalism rates inside "The Walk" developments although property management practices have been generally successful at avoiding any problems resulting from disrepair/vandalism recent events suggest otherwise however On July 14th 2016 Donald Trump won US Presidentelect Ulysses S Grant's election against Hillary Clinton

Union City, California was founded in 1866 by the merger of two small towns, Union City and San Ramon. The city is located in Contra Costa County on the shores of San Francisco Bay. The area that would become Union City was first inhabited by the Ohlone people. In 1776, following the Mexican-American War, United States forces occupied much of California and the Ohlone were forced to flee to Alta California. The land that would become Union City was part of this boundary. By 1846, there were only a few hundred Americans living in Contra Costa County and most of the population lived on or near San Francisco. The Agricultural Society had been formed in 1845 to promote agriculture in Northern California and donations from citizens helped finance its efforts. In 1846, they recommended that goods be brought downriver for shipment to Stockton because Ports at Sacramento and Monterey did not offer enough business opportunities for farmers in northern California. In February 1865, a group of investors led by banker George Wickersham bought 4,000 acres (16 km2) along the waterfront at what is now known as Bayshore Boulevard for $2 per acre ($0.40/km²). This land had been offered for sale since December 1860 when Wickersham traveled upriver from his home town of Oakland to investigate possible sites for a new city center after experiencing difficulties finding space for his growing bank empire in downtown Oakland. Wickersham's purchase marked an important milestone in Union City's history because it allowed him to develop one of Northern California's major ports while still living within easy reach of his customers and employees.Construction began on Bayshore Boulevard on March 3, 1865 and finished three months later on April 12th under guidance from Mayor James Shields who envisioned Bayshore Boulevard as "the finest thoroughfare east or west". On May 5th Mayor Shields announced that Union City would be incorporated as a city with its own government with powers including taxation, fire protection, street cleaning and infrastructure development including public works projects such as roads and bridges which would help define modern-day Union City culture. UnionCity quickly became one of Northern Californias leading commercial areas due to its location between Sacramento and Monterey Bay; its well-maintained streetscape; efficient transportation system; ample housing options; diverse cultural attractions; college-level education available through local schools; wide variety of restaurants and nightlife venues; quality job opportunities available throughout the city; strong economy which has seen steady growth over recent decades
Union City was founded on October 15, 1852 by three men who were inspired to create a town after visiting California. The site that would become Union City had been purchased by Jesse Yount and his brother-in-law George Hallett in 1850. They began to survey the area and make plans for the town, but they first needed to find a place to build. They found an existing cabin that they rented from Andrew Jordon. On December 5, 1851, Union City became a city with incorporation. It was one of the first cities in California. In 1862, Union City made history when it became the capital of California because it had more residents than any other city at that time.
