Union City, California is a city in San Joaquin County, California, United States. The population was 54,598 at the 2010 census. It was founded in 1868 by the merger of two small towns - Union City and Redding - and has been the largest town in San Joaquin County since its creation. The first post office in Union City was established on July 5, 1870. The name of the merged town originated with an incident where two men who had just finished cutting down a tree in Redding were Differences named "Union" and "Redding". The first store opened in Union City on January 12, 1872. John Fenton opened his grocery store there on Main Street which became known as "Fenton's." Fenton later moved his business to Third Street and it remains today as JFenter's Grocery Store. In 1875, an Act of Congress created San Joaquin County; UnionCity became one of its first townships. In 1907, the first school building was erected here; it served as both Union City High School and Union City Elementary School until it burned down in 1938. In 1951, a new high school campus was built here (now known as Fullerton HS). A new elementary school campus followed suit in 1957 (now known as Education House). On October 8th of that year (the date of passage of Proposition 13), all public schools within union city were closed due to budget cuts caused by Governor Ronald Reagan's state-wide initiative to reduce state spending. However, only fullerton high school reopened under new management less than one week after the closure – this occasioned much rejoicing among students and parents alike who celebrated with free pizza fromFullerton Pizza Place! In 1978 the now defunct Fullerton Junior College relocated to what is now called Fullerton HS Campus proper – becoming part of fully community colleges statewide! In 1984/1985 another large high school expansion took place when Huntington Beach JC transferred from Saugus Valley Unified School District to become Huntington Beach JC #2! There has been no real change whatsoever at fullerton high school since then other than various updates/updates DOJ may choose or mandate for their student body...well actually more like…more like not much happens except for occasional fights between sophomore girls over who gets to wear whatever skirt they happen to be wearing that day LOL! A few years back there even seemed like things might improve but I'm afraid recent events have led me once again onto this long track...lol

Union City is a census-designated place in San Diego County, California. The population was 34,569 at the 2010 census. Union City is part of the South Park neighborhood in San Diego. It is bordered by North Park to the north, Kearny Mesa to the east, Otay Mesa to the south and Escondido Hills to the west. The first European settlers in what is now Union City were Dutch farmers who arrived from Holland in 1665. The area that would become Union City was founded on May 15, 1847 when six early pioneers purchased 640 acres (253 ha) of Rancho San Pedro de los Osos from José Castro y Baca for $1,500. The town was named after General George Washington's Headquarters during the Mexican–American War and has been known as "Washington bytheSea" ever since. In 1850 Union City had a population of just fifteen people and consisted of only a few homes and some sheds used for farming purposes. Over time Union City grew rapidly due to its location close to both El Cajon Naval Air Station (now US flight International Airport) and several major shipyards including those operated by Bethlehem Steel Company and Kaiser Wilhelm II Germany's largest steel producer at that time. In 1905UnionCity had an estimated population of 25,000; by 1910 it had grown to over 50,000 with more than 30 businesses located within one mile (1 km) of downtown. From 1906 until 1957 Union City was served by two newspapers: "El Centro Californiano" published from downtown while "The Daily Herald" was published outlying on Kearny Mesa Boulevard across from PB&O Railway Depot #3 which still stands today as a contributing property to nearby North Park Neighborhood Council District 4A . Additionally industrial areas such as Shipbuilding district 2 have been located throughout most of what is now Union City but are no longer present or have disappeared entirely leaving little evidence remaining except for a few streets which are still Suzumya Road through El Centro district (southwest corner), Wabash Avenue through Otay Mesa district (northwest corner), Patriot Street between Aviation Way/North Park Boulevard and Almaden Parkway/Patriot Drive Northeast all within city limits
