Union City is a city located in San Bernardino County, California, United States. The population was 69,824 at the 2010 census. It is the second most populous city in San Bernardino County after Riverside. The name "Union City" originated from when it was an agricultural center and there were no railways to connect the larger cities so goods had to be transported by wagon or horseback. Today, Union City is known for its gourmet coffee and food establishments as well as its popular nightlife. The first espresso machine was built in 1865 by Italian-born Angelo Giacomo Castiglioni and named Koffee Kabinett (Coffee Cabinet). In 1892, Italian immigrant Giovanni Matteo Pepe started making coffee drinks at his restaurant called Pepe's Coffee House on Main Street. During Prohibition, Italy refused to provide milk for coffees because they believed this would help keep prohibitionists from buying prohibitionist newspapers which would have been used to purchase illegal drugs. In 1933, Harry Fenton bought the business of DonatellO De Angelis who ran it until his death in 1984. In 1984, DonatellO De Angelis' son Pietro inherited the business and changed the name to Union City Coffee Company Inc., later renamed P&G Coffee Corporation after Pietro's father Filomeno Gagliano became president of P&G Research Laboratories Incorporated (P&G) in 1957. In 1990s Union City Coffee began importing ground beans from Indonesia for their own roasting operation under the trade name Java Mountain Roasters Limited (JMRL). JMRL also produced a line of espresso machines including two models that were both designed by Angelo Giacomo Castiglioni himself - one with a water tank that dispensed up to four ounces per pull while the other featured a five ounce pull capacity which made it more like a pour-over coffee maker although both machines did not feature carafes or filters like modern espresso machines do today! Barry Jacobson served as President and CEO of P&G Coffee Corporation until retiring in 2006; he then joined Starbucks as Executive Vice President - International Sales before becoming Regional Director - Asia Pacific South America & Australasia starting in January 2009 where he remains today. He succeeded Barry Jacobson as President & CEO of Starbucks Worldwide Operations on October 15th, 2011 effective November 1st following his retirement from Starbucks Corp.. In May 2012 Starbucks announced plans to open over 350 stores worldwide within 5 years; these plans included opening stores inside theme parks such as Universal Studios Japan and Islands Of Adventure Resort & Spa; however this never came true due to various factors includingbbqLogic interfering with their expansion plan! On October 15th ,2011 Anthony Bourdain visited Starbucks during their move into Posterton Square – Bourdain’s former company headquarters – just north of downtown Los Angeles . While there he sampled some java beans roasted at JMRL’s new facility adjacent to Walt Disney World Resort…After tasting Javamellista II – THE FIRST JAVA MOUNTAIN ROASTED ESPRESSO MACHINE – AND SAYING IT WAS GOOD ALL THE WAY UP TO HIS EYES HE DECIDED TO LEAVE WITH A WORD OF WARNING ABOUT HOW EXPENSIVE THIS TYPE OF SERVICE CAN BE…..He went back two weeks later during their Holiday season tour of Europe…. After sampling several more types of beans JMRL brought over from Indonesia for them TO SERVE ON THEIR NEW STOREHOUSE TABLE……After trying out many different kinds of drinks using all different types of equipment BJ really got into Espresso Machines!!!!! Coffee first reached Europe through traders on the spice trade. Arab traders brought coffee back to Mecca in 350 AD, where it was ground and brewed into hot drinks known as tahini. In 1507, Ottoman Turks set up their own coffee-shop in Constantinople and began to import more European beans. By 1500, coffee had spread throughout most of Asia Minor. In 1596, Italian explorer Marco Polo voyageed through China and found that Java’s major city of Yancheng had a large population of Muslims who were extracting valuable cedar trees for wood pulp and coffeepaste (kopi). This led Giovanni da Verrazzano to explore Java in 1498 looking for new sources of spices and minerals. He discovered Indonesia’s Bali Peninsula before reaching Timor Square on Sumatra Island – now Jakarta – where he founded his first European trading post at Fortrijek on July 20th, 1497. The Portuguese also founded Portuguese Bay on Sulawesi Island in 1510; this became the capital city of East Timor in 1975 when Portugal withdrew from Southeast Asia following the Indonesian military occupation. Dutchman Jan Mayen charted New Guinea's Bebe Point in 1606 but never reached Australia because he was drowned while sailing eastward along Australian coastline

The first people to live in Union City were the Tongva people who arrived from southern Mexico about 1800. In 1851, they founded what is now known as Downtown Union City on land that had been part of Rancho Niguel. In 1863, the town was renamed for General Ulysses S. Grant because of his victory at Palo Alto over Mexican forces under José Joaquin Murrill and Antonio Lopez de Santa Anna. The site of Grant's triumph became an important commercial center with several large brick buildings still standing today including Market Square and Founder's Hall (now Hearst Tower). By 1870, Union City had grown to include a significant amount of housing developments including ParkWest Town Center and North Park East. A fire destroyed much of downtown Union City on Thanksgiving Day 1870 but it soon rebuilt- this time with help from local volunteers and money from citizens raised through sales of certificates of deposit (CODs) issued to firefightersman during the rebuilding process In 1875, a group of businessmen led by John Cressey formed the First National Bank in downtown Union City which remains one of the largest banks in Southern California today. The first post office opened in Union City on December 12th, 1876 In 1886, James Hutton organized what would become Alma Mater University – now UC Irvine - within minutes of opening its doors to students at Trinity Methodist Church across Eldridge Street from Central Square. Alma Mater quickly became one of Northern California’s leading universities and continues to serve as one of America’s top educational institutions Today Alma Mater has campuses located throughout Orange County with programs available online or satellite campuses in Sacramento and Anaheim In 1912, electric streetcar service began between Downtown Union City and Corona Heights bringing new life to an already vibrant commercial district . Over time these streetcar lines evolved into various forms such as bus rapid transit (BRT), current day light rail operation called Metrolink served by Caltrain commuter trains running along coastal coasts every few minutes) TodayUnion Station Amtrak station offers more than just passenger services: it also functions as a major research center for Combined Science Research Institute (CSRI) –partnered with UC Davis –and other scientific organizations nearby!
