It is the second-largest city in San Bernardino County after Riverside. The name of Union City was given to it by the United Mine Workers of America because it was one of six towns chosen for their new headquarters during the first national Industrial Revolution exposition in 1881. In 1932, Union City became an incorporated city and has since grown into a major metropolitan area with over two million people located within its boundaries. The history of Union City dates back to 1871 when six communities were selected as sites for the American Civil War industrial zone due to their location on the Chiquita Ridge Fault where gold and silver had been discovered. These towns were: Bloomingdale, Commerce Heights, East Troy, Fort mather (now Cottonwood), Westville and Winchester (now part of Imperial Beach). In 1881, these communities merged to form Union City which became one of the largest cities in America at that time with a population of around 100 thousand people. At that time it consisted mainly of small farming villages with no industry or trade other than agriculture and mining; however, this changed rapidly during World War I when large amounts of munitions manufacturing took place in nearby Riverside thanks to Abraham Lincoln’s proclamation creating wartime production quotas for civilian companies called “ Bonus Army ” manufacturers who donated goods necessary for war production without getting any kickbacks from government coffers. This boom allowed Union City to become one of America’s most prosperous cities and by 1920 it had reached its peak with a population size greater than 200 thousand people living in more than sixty-fiveUS states plus Canada and Mexico! This power struggle spilled over into open warfare which left several hundred people dead including mayor Witherspoon himself along with scores more injured/murdered across downtown including scores more police officers! After years essentially characterised as a bloodbath pitting rich northerners against poor southerners; both wings eventually agreed upon amending their ordinances so that citizens could vote on mayoral candidates rather than just selecting someone they knew from within their own party! This reopening process began what would be known as “the New Deal” period lasting until 1964 when George Wallace unseated incumbent John F Kennedy presidency despite winning less than 50% percent majorityof popular votes!!! Although union membership has decreased significantly since then especially among skilled blue collar workers such as electricians/cablesmen; there are still numerous businesses operating successfully without unions btw many have closed down during recessions….

Union City is a city in western Contra Costa County, California, United States. The population was 54,827 at the 2010 census. It was founded on November 15, 1851 by Andrew J. McNary and James W. Wilson as part of the Central Pacific Railroad's Central Valley Division. The name Union City comes from the union of two small towns – Eureka and Wildcat – which were adjacent to each other on the north side of what is now downtown Union City. The first post office in Union City was established on December 12, 1858, by John Humes and named for General George Washington Butler who had been instrumental in causing the California Gold Rush. When the Central Pacific Railroad completed its line through central Contra Costa County in 1869, it shortened its name to "Union City". In 1881, a fire destroyed most of downtown Union City but replaced it with a new civic center that still stands today. In 1906, Mayor Hiram Sibley opened up what became known as "Sibley Park" on land bounded by First Street (north), Second Street (south), Third Street (east), and Fourth Streets (west). This park served as an open-air market until 1922 when trees were planted around it to make it more earthquake resistant. In 1936–37, mayor Harry Chandler built a new city hall at 301 Elmira Avenue after purchasing land from Samuel Morse and his father-in-law Amos Kendall for $2 million. The building has been used as the city hall ever since and is now home to several other government entities includingthe Police Department and Fire Department. In 1960–1961, Union City also became one of six cities in Contra Costa County to receive water treatment plants from San Francisco Bay Water District #1 following Proposition 8 which sought to ban any type of public financing for racial integration in California’s municipalities
