Their coffee has won numerous awards, including being awarded Best Coffee at the San Francisco World Fair in 2001. Union City is a town in San Bernardino County, California. The population was 16,858 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Riverside–San Bernardino Metropolitan Statistical Area. The first coffee beans were roasted by José Maria Gomez in 1847 on a small lot next to the current downtown Union City plaza. In 1865, David Ellison acquired and began grinding and Selling Coffee from his family's 70-acre plantation near Banning (now Moreno Valley). There are several stories about how David got his start as a coffee roaster: One story has it that he was walking through an agricultural area when he saw some Jenna Planters' chickens pecking at some coffee beans that had been left behind by their farmer; he decided to buy them and started roasting them himself. Another account has it that one day while working on his farm, David heard someone pounding on a door asking for help; since he knew somebody who could get the job done, he went to see who it was and found out that it was an old friend of his father's who needed help getting started in business. In any case, Ellison soon became well known throughout Southern California for his excellent coffees - not just because of Banning but also because of his growing production north of Los Angeles in what is now Orange County. In 1902, two brothers named Harry and John Jacob Epstein bought land adjacent to Ellison's plantation; they founded their own coffee plantation there called "Harry & John Epstein". The name came from their initials - HJE (Harry James Epstein). In 1915, Jaffe Brothers purchased Harry & John Epstein's share of the company and continued to produce great coffee until its sale in 1984 to Nestle AG. The first espresso machine ever made for sale commercially was built by Italian immigrant Angelo Zuccarello in 1925 at 724 East Broadway Street in Union City; this machine cost $2,500 ($ as of 2019). Union City is a city in San Bernardino County, California. The population was 20,554 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Greater Los Angeles Area. The name Union City comes from theunion of two small towns, Rancho Cucamonga and Big Bear Lake. The first people to live in Union City were the Tongva people who arrived in 1847 from Guerrero, Mexico. They built their homes on what is now Topanga Canyon Boulevard. In 1868, Colonel George Armstrong Custer and his Seventh Cavalry were fighting at Palo Alto when they reached Union City andensenied to rest for the night there. A few days later they marched into downtown San Bernardino with news that General Ulysses S. Grant had been killed in battle near Tucson and that Ulysses S., Jr., would become President of America. In 1869, John Wesley Powell became interested in exploring nearby Mt Shasta National Monument and decided to settle there instead of going eastward to Las Vegas as he had planned originally. He named his new town after himself – Union City – because he wanted every person living there to be able to speak one common language (English). The first store opened in 1870 on Main Street between First Avenue and Third Street; it was called the Pacific Electric Store because it served electricity needs of all residents including businesses inside and outside of town limits! In 1872, an LDS church was established here by a group led by Lorenzo Snow; it has since become one of San Bernardino County’s most well-known churches with more than 60 congregations around Southern California! On October 15th, 1886 a major fire destroyed much of downtown Union City which included both the Pacific Electric Store as well as several other businesses including bakery Jardine & Johnsons restaurant which still stands today across frominitially known as Pershing Square Park! This event also marked one year after Mrs . Hanks had started baking pies for local customers out back at her old home on Fourth Street! In 1913 Mayor Wigglesworth dedicated Market Square Park which includes current day Wells Fargo Plaza located just east sideofthe park across from Third Street where pioneer Mulehoe Howard founded Zion Lutheran Church back in 1856! Finally on January 6th 1922 voters approved Measure V - a referendum authorizing cityhood - makingUnionCitythefirstcityinSanBernardinoCounty! After years of growth and progress this once small town has now over 20 thousand citizens within its borders making it one of Southern Californias most densely populated cities!
