There is no doubt that the Navy has a long and proud history in Upland, California. The area has seen active service in both World War I and World War II, and today’s navy is one of the most professional and well-funded organizations on the planet. One of the many things that make the navy such an important part of our community is their deployment history. Naval units have been stationed in Upland since before there was a navy in California. In 1847, Commodore James K. Polk sent Commodore David Dixon to explore what became present day Orange County. Dixon’s discoveries led to the establishment of Irvine Naval Air Station, which was home to America’s first squadron of F4F Wildcats during World War I (1914-15). In 1941, Japan attacked Pearl Harbor, leading to America's entry into World War II. Upland residents were immediately called up for military duty, with nearly 2,000 people mobilized for naval service (this figure does not include those who served as reservists or volunteers). Today’s navy owes much its success to its partnerships with local businesses and institutions. The Newport News Shipbuilding & Marine Corp., which manufactures USS Norfolk (CVN 73) and USS San Diego (CA 85), is one such institution. Together they have produced over 1,500 ships over the years; these vessels have helped keep our country safe and defend our coastline! Another key partner is Chico State University –Home of US Coast Guard Academy – which provides educationally relevant training for members of our armed forces worldwide. The university also partners with nearby UC Riverside on research projects that help improve maritime security around the world! All this dedication has lead to some great gifts from within our community – something that truly reflects how much we appreciate their services! Here are just a few examples: In 2002, Chico State University donated a land grant college in honor of Admiral Rickover; USS Porter (CVA 68) was gifted to Huntington Beach Regional Airport in 2005 in commemoration of CVN 74’s 25th anniversary; Huntington Beach Regional Airport also donated an airplane hangar expansions project worth $5 million to support USS Porter operations; UC Riverside donated land for a new campus housing US Coast Guard Academy cadets;[1] and lastly but not least, Newport News Shipbuilding & Marine Corp.] gave Santa Ana Municipal Utility District property back into private hands so they could continue providing water services Garrison Point Drive.[2] These donations reflect how much we VALUE OUR NAVY!

The Navy's Deployed Gift History in Upland, California begins with the USS Constitution (1802-1805) and ends with the USS George Washington (1797-1801). The Constitution was a vessel of the United States Navy that served from 1802 to 1805. She was launched on October 12, 1802, by John F. Kennedy at Norfolk, Virginia. The Constitution was commissioned on November 1, 1802. She served as flagship ofCaptain James K. Polk during his first term in office as President of the United States (1849-1853). On July 4, 1807, she collided with HMS Guerriere off Cape Disappointment and suffered extensive damage. The Constitution eventually returned to service on September 17th under Captain David Dixon Porter and operated out of Charleston Harbor until she decommissioned on December 15th. USS George Washington was commissioned on January 3rd, 1797 by Commodore James Watts at Portsmouth Naval Shipyard in New Hampshire. She served as Flagship of Rear Admiral Sir William Howe during the American Revolutionary War between 1775 and 1783 while being commanded by Rear Admiral David Dixon Porter. In 1800 she took part in an expedition against Mexico led by Admiral George Montresor which resulted in a French Treaty victory over Mexico CITY
Upland, California is located in the central region of California and bordered by Kern County to the east, Orange County to the south, and Bakersfield to the west. The population was 343,778 as of 2018. The largest city in Upland is Redding which has a population of 112,547 according to the 2018 census. The name "Upland" is thought to be derived from two local Native American words: "wálpah", meaning "upper land," and "dúlhán", meaning "the flat country." The first European settlers arrived in 1849 and named their new territory after Mount Shasta, an 8-hour drive away in what is now Fresno County. In 1864 Upland became part of Imperial Valley when it was separated from Kern County. A year later it became part of Kingsbury District when Italo Calvino moved his family from San Francisco Bay Area towards Kingsbury Valley. In 1907 Upland joined with other rural areas around Bakersfield to form Kern County Agricultural Experiment Station No. 1 (later known as UC Davis). After World War II until 1959 it was a separate agricultural district administered by the California Department of Water Resources before being merged into Kern County on January 1, 1959. With no natural resources or open space left in Kern County for private development, developers turned their attention to uplands for commercial farming beginning in earnest during the late 1960s and early 1970s. Today, there are more than 2 million acres (1 million hectares) of upland farmland within Kern County – making it one of the most agriculturally diverse counties in California – with crops such as almonds, oranges, grapeseed oilseed rape, pistachios and almonds among others grown here extensively. Due largely to its location between major metropolitan areas – especially Los Angeles and Fresno – Upland has become a popular destination for holidaymakers who want easy access both physically and commercially to both coastal townships on the Pacific Coast Highway while also enjoying some unspoiled wilderness close at hand; this trend continued into recent years with several large developments proposed for various parts of UPLAND that have yet to materialize despite numerous offers from developers including downtown Redding's anticipated arrival next door should an agreement be reached between city officials and developers interested in redeveloping that area - though much remains TBD about what exactly will take place if such talks result in any kind physical redevelopment given that neither side appears willing or able currently or ever soonto agree upon anything beyond further study/planning without any real tangible development happening - putting significant economic pressure on downtown Redding residents who continue steadfastly opposed all forms whatsoever whatever potential redevelopment proposals may surface next door regardless thereof relatively speaking given current conditions

In 1969, Rear Admiral Dahlgren was posthumously awarded the Congressional Gold Medal for his service to the United States Naval Service. The town of Rancho Tujunga was founded on what is now the east side of Interstate 5 near Santa Rosa in 1928. It served as a transportation hub between San Francisco and Los Angeles until World War II when I-5 was diverted to provide a more direct route between those cities. Since its incorporation into California, Upland has experienced various changes including becoming an agricultural center during the gold rush period; becoming a manufacturing center during the post-war era; and experiencing significant growth during the early 21st century due toaffordable housing, job opportunities, and new development along I-5. Today, Upland still retains many of its traditional values such as peaceful protests (known as " shutting down ") or nonviolent civil disobedience that have helped it maintain high levels of public support throughout its history.
