The United States Army Garrison Vacaville was established in 1855 on land that had been donated to the military by the citizens of Vacaville. The first soldier to arrive in Vacaville was Captain John H. Geary, who served with the 1st Infantry Battalion during the Mexican-American War. In 1881, General Andrew Johnson ordered the detachment of 2,000 soldiers from Fort Yuma to help quench a drought in California. The troops arrived too late and many were lost in the desert fighting. In 1907, the U.S. Army built Camp Roberts on Government Hill as an expansion of Fort Yuma and it remained an army installation until 1951 when it became a civilian airport. In 1912, General John J Pershing organized and deployed American Expeditionary Force (AEF) units into Mexico City as part of World War I efforts to support Spanish forces against revolutionary forces led by Francisco Villa. On September 16, 1914, General Pershing proclaimed war on Spain and two days later declared war on Austria for similar reasons. On October 10th 1915, American Expeditionary Forces invaded Belgium after learning that Austrian forces were invading France through Belgium’s neutrality zone. German forces invaded Austria three weeks later and by December 5th 1915 all European countries were at war with Germany except Great Britain which remained neutral throughout World War I. On November 3rd 1918 General James A Garfield was sworn into office as president of America after being elected with over 95% of the vote at what is now known as Ford’s Theater in Washington D C . Just over one year later on January 20th 1919 President Wilson signed a bill authorizing members of Congress to declare war if necessary for defense purposes only and not for commercial interests or other goals beyond those stated in Senate resolution 6792 which also authorized appropriations for this purpose as well as providing financial resources “until such time as satisfactory negotiations can be effected between our government and Russia respecting her rights arising out of her participation in this conflict” It should be noted that Presidents since then have used their constitutional powers under article II section 8(4)of the United States Constitution to enter into wars without Congressional authorization only once – World War II – but no further action has been taken since then unless required by applicable law or pursuant to Presidential Executive Order The current garrison at Camp Roberts dates back to 1951 when it became an airfield serving Vacaville/Murphysboro area surrounded by residential areas subject to most any weather event including severe thunderstorms causing power outages totaling more than 500 customers per night during 2010-2011 . As recently as February 25th 2013 there occurred a tornado outbreak affecting portions of Northern California damaging or destroying homes near Mount Shasta National Park leaving 4 people dead along with scores missing including 3 children who may have been trapped inside while their parents escaped unharmed This type of weather activity is becoming increasingly rare however given UC Davis warnings about potential storms this week , increased caution ought not be ignored especially when traveling outside your home territory . Vacaville, California is a small community located in the San Joaquin Valley of California. It was first settled by American Indians in the late 1700s. In 1846, it became part of Mexico and was designated as part of the United States. From 1850-1851, Vacaville served as the capital of California. In 1976, Vacaville was merged into Solano County. The population of Vacaville peaked at 30,000 in 1908 and has since decreased to around 14,000 today. The town began to grow rapidly due to its location on the Sacramento River and its easy access to water resources. By 1870, Vacaville had a population of over 100 people. The town achieved notoriety for its highly contagious yellow fever disease which caused great fear among residents. As a result of this fear, many businesses closed their doors during the early 1800s and most residents withdrew from society altogether. In 1876-77, Vacaville experienced one of the worst fires in United States history when an uncontrolled fire destroyed much of downtown including most buildings within three blocks of each other! This event made headlines across America and helped create a lasting image of Soda Springs as being rebuilt with more haste than prudence - something that would not be repeated for many years to come! In 1912-13, Vacavile hosted what is now known as "The Golden Spike" celebrations which marked completion of the Transcontinental Railroad between Los Angeles and Chicago (the original route had been established through Nevada). At this time, there were only a few hundred people living in Vacaville while larger towns like Oakland and Sacramento were nearby already complete with their own railroads connecting them all together!
