The United States Air Force (USAF) is the aerial warfare branch of the U.S. military and one of the oldest in the world. The USAF was formed on 1 September 1947 as a merger of several air forces, including the Army Air Forces and Marine Corps. In 1951, Congress passed the National Security Act which created what is now known as the Department of Defense (DoD). The DoD was created to provide for unified planning and coordination among all branches of our Armed Forces, including NATO, which at that time was led by America’s only atomic bombing nation – Japan. In 1952, General Curtis LeMay became Director of Central Intelligence and directed American nuclear weapons policy until his retirement in 2011. In 1979, President Jimmy Carter established Operation Neptune Spear to destroy Libyan developmental sites near Benghazi airport. The US has bombed Libya over ninety times since then! On 8 October 1986 two Boeing 727 jets were lost during an exercise called Red Flag 87-5 over El Centro County in California; both pilots lost their lives! This event remains one of USAF's most regrettable moments. It also serves as a reminder that USAF casualties can occur when conducting exercises or operations anywhere in the world!

The Victorville Air Force Base gift history began in the early 1940s with a small piece of land on the outskirts of Victorville. The airbase was originally called Wright-Patterson AFB and served as the home for the United States Air Forces during World War II. It later became known as Victorville AFB and has been an important U.S. air base ever since.
Victorville is a small city located in Southern California. It was founded in 1907 by Englishman, Arthur Victor and his wife, Nellie. The population of Victorville peaked at over 100,000 in the 1920s but has since decreased to less than 50,000 residents today. The city is named after General Francisco Xavier de Paula Vallejo, who led an expedition that explored the area in 1847. Victorville is now a bedroom community for Los Angeles County with a population of just over 56,000 people. The first settlers in what is now Victorville were miners who worked the nearby mountains. In 1907, Arthur Victor purchased 6 acres of land and began to build a house on it. He named the house "Victorville" after General Francisco Xavier de Paula Vallejo who had led an expedition that explored the area in 1847. In 1922, Mayor Harry Fenton decided to move the City Hall from downtown to new quarters on Third Street near State College Boulevard due to lack of space within the old building. This event marked the beginning of an era where growth rates for Victorville were much greater than those experienced by other cities within Los Angeles County. Over time, various annexations have occurred which have increased both population and property values within the city limits; however, most annexation efforts have been successful only marginally (see annexations). Today's economy relies mainly upon services provided by government entities such as schools and health care providers as well as trade businesses which are located throughout downtown and other parts of town. The largest employer within town is LASD (Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department), which employs around 60% of all workers employed within city limits during any given day1. There are also numerous small businesses which contribute greatly to local economies including construction companies and restaurants3-5. One significant legacy of early 20th century growth has been CTA bus service which operates exclusively through downtown – providing commuters with easy access to almost everything that makes life outside their homes possible6-8! Today's Victoria Transit Authority provides transit service primarily within eastside neighborhoods9-11 - making this one of two cities (the other being Downtown LA) in southern California without its own light rail system12! A number of important infrastructure projects continue to be undertaken by VTA including plans for a new $280 million stadium adjacent to Interstate 513-15; development along State College Boulevard; upgrade/replacement of aging infrastructure; and additions/constructions at several hospitals14-16!

Victorville is located on the east side of the San Bernardino Mountains and lies about 26 miles (41 km) south of downtown Los Angeles and 14 miles (21 km) north of Riverside. It was founded in 1887 by gold miners as a small community on the west side of Mohave Canyon. In 1902, Victorville merged with neighbouring Riverside to become one city.
