In 1950, the United States Air Force moved its headquarters from Carswell AFB northeast of Dallas to Lackland AFB northwest of San Antonio de Padua (now El Paso County). On January 1, 1951, General John F Kennedy announced that American forces would be withdrawn from Okinawa and will move back into Japan; this caused an uproar throughout Asia due to what was seen as an abrupt shift in U.S strategy which had been going on for years! As a result of this announcement, many Victorvilians were forced out of their homes and into exile or migration eastward into the United States where they continued their struggles during the Korean War era through various forms of agricultural production or working on construction projects such as those at Camarillo Naval Weapons Station located just outside Ofcord City limits
