Victorville is a city in Kern County, California, southeast of Bakersfield. The population was 110,708 at the 2010 census. It is the county seat of Kern County. Victorville is known for its citrus industry and being home to the world's largest grapefruit Festival. The first humans to live in what is now Victorville were Ohlone people who are thought to have arrived in伊蘭州 (now Pershing County) about 12,000 years ago. In 1847, parts of Kern and Tulare counties were organized as part of mining camp San Francisco de los Angeles which laid out a town called Sutter's Fort on the banks of the Sacramento River opposite Benicia. George Harney founded Rancho Moreno near present-day Russian River after finding gold at Sutter's Fort in 1851. From 1860 to 1870, miners from all over California streamed into San Francisco seeking rich nuggets and other minerals discovered at Sutter's Fort and El Dorado Hills by prospectors led by John Dutton and James Wolkowsky. In 1865, following Gold Rush discoveries in Northern California including at Sutter's Fort, Maytag Manufacturing Company was established with two plants: one located on Slough Road north of Marysville where ore was shipped by riverboat down the Sacramento River to Market Street docks; and another on First Street east of downtown Los Angeles where raw materials were processed into finished products such as milk pails, butter churns and watches before shipment back upriver across the portage to market streetside near City Hall buildings occupied today by buildings like Regency Cinemas operated by Regency plc., Citigroup Incorporated., Wells Fargo & Co., Apple Incorporation., Sears Holdings Corporation.) During World War II Victorville became an important military airbase with various barracks used for storage or housingAAF bombers such as Ventura Air Force Base which came online during 1941 campaign against Japan However this ended when Japanese forces bombed Yokoyama Airfield killing more than 140 people on 30 December 1944.. After 1945 Victorville slowly recovered with new businesses starting up such as Albertsons Department Store which opened in 1951 followed by PPL Television Corporation which built a major TV tower in 1957 that served as a Lights Out Tower during winters making it visible from miles away until it burned down in 1961 . In 1969 Chevron Corporation acquired Richland Refining Company from Occidental Petroleum who had been operating it since 1938 becoming ChevronTexaco . The company also began construction on an immense oil refinery that would become one of North America’s largest ever built resulting in the creation of over 1 million jobs along with cleanup costs associated with entire area including water main Breakouts that made headlines around the world . As part of efforts focused on environmentally friendly practices throughout its operations Chevron announced plans to build Rexford Park Golf Course adjacent to their existing plant creating what would come to be known as "The Green Mile" within minutes walk between plant facilities situated behind converted railroad tracks running parallel Interstate 5 immediately southwest/southwest cornering Rexford Parkway just outside city limits .. In addition numerous stores were closed while they underwent renovation or demolition including Sears Roebuck & Co.'s original store building now home again since 1984 Crown Victoria Tire & RubberStore reopened after closure in 1997 Today General Motors Corporation operates GMC Chevrolet dealership located adjacent I-5 exit #1 providing additional retail opportunities for customers traveling through town

The project began in 1984 when an article was published in the Annals of American Research titled "Marine Gifts from Around the World." The article detailed different types of marine gifts and their history. From then on, the project grew and gradually evolved into what it is today. The Marine Gift History Project has developed over time to include objects, items, and even people associated with maritime culture. Today, we know that there are many different types of marine gifts which range in size and purpose. Many gift items were designed as symbols of esteem or friendship between sailors and their friends ashore. Others were simply decorative pieces used for show or commerce while still others were meant to reflect financial wealth or social status among seafarers. When it comes to maritime gift history, there can be no doubt that America has had a significant impact on this field! Items such as ship's masts and cannons dating back centuries provide valuable insight into how seafaring cultures interacted with one another both before and after independence was declared. Additionally, our own maritime tradition continues strong today with vessels like the USS Constitution Museum's "Old Ironsides" being gifted to society in recent years becoming all the more special because they commemorate American naval achievement abroad while also embodying American values at home.

Victorville is a city in Inyo County, California, United States. The population was 21,822 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Victorville–Reno, CA Metropolitan Statistical Area. The first European to visit what is now Victorville was Juan Bautista de Anza on his way from San Francisco Bay to northern Mexico in 1827. He named it after General José Antonio Lara y Costilla who had recently won an engagement against Mexican forces at Yuma Springs. In 1881, General Lew Wallace's army campsed near Victorville for three weeks during the winter of 1881-82 while he prepared to cross the deserts of Arizona and New Mexico into eastern Colorado. A large crowd gathered around General Wallace as he pitched his tent within sight of the town and listened to his story of reaching America's newest gold field by crossing the Great Basin via Nevada route 66. After spending time in town eating horse flesh and playing cards with local merchants, Wallace crossed the Central Valley late that winter and started arriving at Gold Rush towns like Silver City on December 15th but only made it two days before Indian scouts discovered him and chased him back across the Mojave Desert into Nevada. While General Wallace was camped near Victorville some new settlers arrived including John Smedley who built a cabin on Topaz Creek about one mile east of present day Smedley Road. Other early pioneers were George Drysdale (1860-1927), James Kapp (1862-1934), Tommie Fenton (1868-1925) and Arthur Waddell ( 1870-1945). About 1880 Waddell started growing grapes in what is now known as Waddell Vineyards & Winery which still produces wine today under their current name: Villa de la Rosa Winery & vineyard
In 1853, the first white person to lived in Victorville was Captain George A. Smith, who built a cabin on the banks of the San Gabriel River. The town was founded by John Sutter and his party of Forty-Niners in 1857. The first store was established in 1858 and the first post office in 1861. In 1865, Victorville became an incorporated city with a population of about 100 people.
