Walnut, California is the birthplace of artisan coffee. The first café in Walnut was founded in 1892 by J.H.Grimm and W.F.Opper, who ran a grocery store on Main Street. Grimm and Opper became the first Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf housekeepers in Walnut when they opened their establishment on North Market Street in 1912. In 1924, David Heinemann started his own roasting company in Walnut and began selling coffee from his establishment at 6th and Market Streets. In 1955, Heinemann's son, Julius, purchased the business from father David and continued to run it as Julius Heinemann Coffee Company until 1984 when it was sold to Starbucks Corporation for $250 million USD. Since then, Starbucks has been responsible for a large portion of the history of artisan coffee within Walnut County including opening several cafes throughout the town as well as developing its current retail footprint along Elmwood Avenue which now includes four stores across three floors with an additional 12 processing centers accommodating over 100 different types of beans per hour!

Walnut, California is a small town in the Inland Empire of Southern California. It was founded in 1868 by George Walnut and his wife Sarah Winchester. The town became an agricultural center for walnuts, almonds, and other nuts. The town has a population of about 3,000 people today. The first settlers in Walnut were George Walnut and his wife Sarah Winchester. They founded the town on December 21st, 1868, when they moved from nearby San Bernardino to start a new life in what is now Walnut. At the time it was one of only a handful of settlements in southern California designated as agricultural areas due to the presence of rich deposits of fruit trees and nut crops such as walnuts. The original name for the town was Indian Wells but this changed to Walnut after George's death in 1870. By 1880, many people had settled within the restricted boundaries set by Governor Prentice Miller so that by 1890 there were over 10 families living within the limits established for Walnut at that time. During prohibition years (1936-1938), many businesses closed due to prohibition regulations which made it difficult to trade goods with Mexico or other countries without breaking law. This did not affect residents who still grew their own food or bought food from local stores; however some businesses were forced to close because they could not operate without alcohol sales which violated local zoning laws Although Prohibition ended in 1938, various activities associated with drinking continued into the 1940s including prostitution and gambling which also caused some economic hardship for locals while creating social tensions among different groups .
