Father Ifter immediately sent two men overland to meet him at Yuma Mission Station where he delivered his letter from Rome dated October 9th 1869 announcing God's Call for missionaries throughout California; one man only made it back alive Forty days later Ifter wrote again informing them of an increased number of applicants but also cautionedagainst hasty decisions because there seemed no danger yet but further dangers might arise without warning He asked if any families interested could send money for their share within three months so he A grantee organization called United Christian Endowment Society purchased eighty acres adjoining present day John Sutter Boulevard just south of Walnut Creek Road on December 12th 1865 Father Ifter moved his family into new homededicated to Our Lady Of Good Help built on what is now Main Street on January 15th 1886 when United Christian Endowment Society granted land east side lot north of main intersection
