The Wasco Army Depot was first opened in 1923 and is one of the original army installations in California. It has been home to various types of military equipment, including tanks, artillery pieces, and Aircraft. The depot also served as a training ground for the California National Guard. In 1954, it became the primary armament center for the California National Guard. In 1969, it was transferred to the United States Air Force and became known as RAF Wasco. After being used by both services until 1992, RAF Wasco became an activated USAF base on October 1st of that year. It closed its doors permanently on September 15th of 2003 after serving its last days with almost two million DOD civilians, airmen and their families visiting it during its duration. Today RAF Iscoc is open to the public as a museum with several displays about military history in general and RAF Wasco specifically. There are large collections of tanks, artillery pieces, aircrafts, helmets and other items from various wars throughout history at RAF Iscoc which can be toured at your own leisure or shared with others who visit the museum. There are also many small displays about local life within easy walking distance of RAF Iscoc providing additional insights into this uniquemilitary installation located just outside of town inWasco CA

Wasco, California is a city located in San Joaquin County, California. The population was 24,912 at the 2010 census. Wasco is the county seat of San Joaquin County. The name "Wasco" comes from the Mono people who lived here for centuries and developed a village on the south bank of the Sacramento River. In 1851, John Sutter founded Sutter's Fort nearby, which became an important stopping place for wagon trains making their way to Stockton and Sacramento. The first post office in Wasco was established in 1852. The town grew rapidly due to its location near water supplies and its easy access to transportation. By 1865, Wasco had a public school, two churches (one Methodist), a Masonic lodge (the Odd Fellows), and two stores. In 1868-69, during Reconstruction following the American Civil War, Wasco experienced some of its most dramatic growth when it became the capital of San Joaquin County with an elected government. In 1920-21 business activity was effectively halted by World War I; however after Prohibition began in 1919 many new businesses were created including several restaurants and night clubs that continue to operate today under various names such as Diamond Joe's or Flame & Sword Inn Publix Supermarket/. During World War II there was significant production at Warner Bros.'s movie studios located adjacent to downtown Wasco; however all industrial output ceased during 1945 because of war efforts elsewhere in North America. After the war ended much of downtown business shifted away from industry towards more traditional values such as retail shopping and services such as accounting and real estate investment firms until recent times when redevelopment has resumed with mixed results due to scarce development funds available for local projects outside of downtown Isleton Street Historic District boundaries only). Today there are active businesses including one grocery store that anchors an entertainment district off Interstate 5 south of town center known locally as "The Strip". A large number of small businesses have closed since 2000 while others have gone through rapid succession changes over time due primarily to changes in economic conditions within local communities throughout Southern California although some remain staples like Sheetz or McDonalds despite competition from larger chains; currently there are no major employers within City limits though new development is planned throughout Downtown area with plans for additional jobs across several hundred acres near Interstate 5 east/west boundary which will bring about 1 million+ total jobs over 10 years if fully realized
