The last major store opening was at 5604 S Broadway Road which was known as Pacific Foods until it closed in 2008 due to economic reasons. In 2003-2004, Wasco went through a large renovation project that replaced all the streetlights with LED lights and renovated all the buildings including their jail building which still stands today (it had been bombed during World War II).
