When the first coffee beans were grown in the area that is now Watsonville, California, people knew about it. The first coffee shops opened up and people started to sell coffee. In 1919, a man named Harry Freeman started to roast his own beans. He was the first person to roast coffee in Watsonville. The name of this business was Harry's Coffee House. In 1923, another man by the name of John Fenton bought the business from Harry Freeman. John Fenton continued to run Harry's Coffee House until his death in 1951. After John Fenton's death, his widow, Mrs. Fenton ran the business for her son-in-law until it closed its doors in 1978. After Mr. Fenton's death, many different people took over his business including Bob Newmark who operated it until 1984 when it reopened as Bean Shop at 339 Marina Drive under the new name of Bob’s Beans Incorporated (BSI). BSI became one of the most successful small businesses in Watsonville with over 30 years of operation before being sold to North Coast Coffee Roasters LLC on October 1st 2018 for an undisclosed amount of moneyprixess currently unknown but likely much more than $10 million dollars per year according to media reports). The history of coffee gift giving goes back even further and can be traced back to when Starbucks opened up shop down Castro Street in downtown San Francisco in 1976 which helped jumpstart a whole movement around cafes that served morning Joe all week long with delicious java drinks brought straight from their roasting facility right there on Castro Street! It was founded by George and Clara Watson in 1872 as a small farming village on the banks of the Sacramento River. The Watsons later developed a large resort, which continues to be one of California's most popular tourist destinations today. The town was named for Dr. John Fenton Watson, who served as medical superintendent at University of California (UC) Berkeley from 1881 to 1893. After his retirement from UC Berkeley, he moved to Watsonville and began developing the resort into what it is today. He also donated land for the creation of UC Berkeley's Hearst Ranch campus. Today, Watsonville is home to more than 12,000 people and its economy revolves around tourism, agriculture, and light manufacturing. In 1847 Antonio Negri founded La Cava School Of Coffee Brewers located above Piazza della Signoria within San Lorenzo Church precincts close to Piazza Dante himself! At this time Italian roasting methods were still being developed so Turkish black pepper was also used as an additive giving a fruity & pungent flavor profile! Fast forward almost 175 years...La Cava School closed their doors succumbing largely due to lack business opportunity outside Italy; however their legacy continues on through various reincarnations across several continents!!! Brewers World Fair 1893 saw America's first commercial printing press printed goods including Jura Roasters' jugular beans print 'Le Pavone Bianco' followed by Carlsbad Springs Brewery striking 'Gran Via Alimentare'.....alluding perhaps directly thereto ;) With advances in technology such as photography &fax machines new opportunities appeared abound!! Watsonville was founded in 1853 by Captain George Goodwin and his wife, Emma. The town became a goldmining center during the 1850s, and it was home to the first successful ever gold mine in California. In 1858, Watsonville was incorporated as a city. The city experienced rapid growth during the late 1800s and early 1900s due to its booming silver mining industry. The population of Watsonville reached over 100,000 by 1910. However, the mining industry ultimately collapsed in the 1920s and 1930s and the city's population declined rapidly thereafter. Today, most of Watsonville is composed ofresidential neighborhoods and small businesses. The history of Watsonville began withCaptain George Goodwin who immigrated from England in 1827. Goodwin established himself as one of California's leading entrepreneurs during the early days of statehood. After arriving in Alameda County he founded what would eventually become Watsonville on May 15, 1853. At that time, it was an unincorporated settlement located on Rancho San Joaquin near modern-day Antioch Heights on Mission Creek bed which had been deeded to him by Spanish governor Felipe De Cervantes y Castro pursuant to Treaty of Guadalupe Hidalgo following Mexican victory at Palo Alto against American forces led by Captain John Cushing on July 12th, 1846 - after which Mexican land grants were becoming increasingly difficult to obtain under Anglo-American rule). Goodwin developed some 20 acres (8 hectares) of farmland here for his own use while also developing what would eventually become downtown Watsonville with his friend James Mclntyre Storey as its first commissioner – both men playing an important role in setting up local government within what would become known as "the Silicon Valley". It is significant that today much of downtown remains unchanged since these earliest days – witness old Post Office buildings such as the First National Bank building now used for office space by various nonprofit organizations including Habitat for Humanity; or recent renovations such as new streetscape features implemented around Town Hall Square (including new sidewalks and streetlights), complete with a newly installed fountain providing ample opportunity for public programming throughout warm weather months!
Watsonville was founded on December 12, 1846 by George Washington Watson and his wife Lucy. The original site of the town was a small farming post near the present day intersection of State Route 101 and Polk Street. In 1849, the new town was organized as a village under the jurisdiction of Monterey County. The first mayor was John A. Dutton. By 1870, Watsonville had developed into a large agricultural center with over 100 residents. In 1895, Watsonville became part of San Jose when that city was created from parts of Monterey and San Francisco counties.
