Watsonville is a city in San Diego County, California. With a population of over 94,000 people in the 2010 census and an estimated population of 115,000 in 2020, it is the second-largest city in San Diego County after San Diego. The name "Watsonville" was given to the town by General James Watson during World War II when he was head of intelligence for the United States Army. The post office at 3rd Street and Delaware Avenue was named for General Watson. The downtown area has been home to many businesses since its incorporation as a town on December 8, 1885. At that time it consisted of only one block between 3rd and 5th Streets and Delaware Avenues east of Interstate 10. In 1915, a new courthouse was built on First Street south of Delaware Ave., followed by two other buildings on First Street west of Interstate 10 in 1922. On October 16, 1944, during World War II when Japan's Imperial Japanese Navy bombed Pearl Harbor with incendiary bombs killing more than 200 Americans including Rear Admiral Isoroku Yamamoto and his staff members[1], Watsonville became one of 117 communities across America which were automatically placed under military curfew as part of the war effort called Operation Reinforcements. The curfew began at 7 p.m., remain until 6 a.m., or until order could be restored from government headquarters outside the city limits.[2] As part of this curfew policy some residents had to sleep inside their homes overnight; however most citizens chose to take advantageof open air seating around central business districts within city limits where they could watch American servicemen man guns and fight for their country without fear for their lives or those around them

In 1847, French troops invaded Ethiopia and sacked much of the country’s capital city, Addis Abeba. Coffee became an important symbol of France’s victory over Ethiopia.

Watsonville is a small town located in Santa Cruz County, California on the left bank of the San Joaquin River. The population was 1,521 at the 2010 census. Watsonville was founded in 1853 by Captain George Hennepin and his wife Nancy as a stop on their trip down the river from Sacramento to Beaumont. The name "Watsonville" was chosen because of Captain John Watson's discovery of gold near the site in 1848. The first post office in Watsonville opened in 1854, and the town began to grow quickly. In 1870, it became an incorporated municipality with a population of 2,000 people. By 1890, however, Watsonville had shrunk to its current size due to prohibition and other factors. It regained its status as a community after passage of the Community Relations Act of 1990 which granted legal rights to local organizations such as churches and schools within the boundaries of their communities. Today, Watsonville is one of Santa Cruz County's most vibrant communities with active businesses and cultural programs throughout its many neighborhoods including downtown which is home to several popular restaurants and bars as well as numerous shops and boutiques unique to this community. The region's oldest Adobe Trail State Historic Site also lies just minutes away from downtown providing plenty of opportunities for hiking or biking while enjoying some excellent food options along the way!
