West Covina is a city in southern California. It is located on the border of Orange County and Riverside County, about 15 miles (24 km) southeast of San Bernardino and 25 miles (40 km) northwest of LA. In 1892, construction began on what would become one of Southern California’s most famous high-rise buildings – the Griffith Observatory. The building opened in 1896 and has been used continuously ever since.
